What WON'T you ever buy for yourself in speedo patterns and/or colors?
I will start: STRIPES horizontal might just be ok in a subtle color combination but never vertical (wide black and white - ugh !) |

Sorry, I got the nylon Aussiebum blue and white vertical stripes - love it.
From what I have heard, the first pattern that Speedo brand came up with was stripes. |

While not hate, I tend to avoid solids, prefer prints or splice and like more bold colors. Like suits with white, but tend to avoid wearing them in public settings, unless the other colors adequately mask the sheerness of the white. I absolutely do not like the more fashion oriented suits that mount the strings so they are on the outside. I also do not like the square cuts with the shoelace type or footballs pants frontal tie up. Just looks weird to me.
Having said that, unless I am at a swim meet or practice, I like to have at least some drawstring exposed... a little tease..lol |

I prefer solid colors or all-over patterns. Not a fan of "splice" suits that add patterned side panels to otherwise solid black suits.

Thanks - now I know the word for what I could never properly describe
(agree - not a great fan either) |

Interesting couple of functional points from STS.
I often wonder whether the fashion designers spotted the macho habit of some speedo wearers to let the draw cord hang out at the front - and so came up with a design to bring them out on the front of the waistband in the first place. The "bootlace" tie front is also intriguing. The first element of attraction here would I think be butt emphasis (pull it all in tight as in a woman's corsetiere). The second might be trying to say "I've got such a splendid big package to accommodate that I need all the opening I can get to put these on and then it all needs to be strapped in" (often favored by bodybuilders). (the front lace-up seems to be in some favor but I have not seen the old side lace-ups come back into fashion - in brief or square cut). |

I don't mind colours, printed patterns or text, the limited size of a swim brief is an ideal place to express yourself artistically. but what I think looks dreadful is a suit where the elastane has worn out of the lycra and the suit is dangling half way down to the knees instead of being skin tight.
Monitor your suits and retire that old favourite before it becomes an embarrassment. If you swim train several times a week it is probably best that you wear expendable working swim suits and keep your favourites safe for special occasions. |

OK - hope these work:
I expect you mean these : http://www.speedoshenanigans.com/wp-...2/02/beach.jpg However I wish to change my mind having found this yummy and unusual suit with two stripes (and just what are those mysterious emblems on the front?) : http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6153/6...6faa9678_z.jpg PS: Nice blue solid AussieBum for LapCounter, including string for STS: http://www.aussiegayguy.com/speedobrand/aussiebum.jpg |
