Looking for semi sheet short

So I just found this board and hopefully someone here can help. I've been looking for semi sheer/sheer when wet shorts. All I seem to find are bikini/things or completely see through, plastic looking shorts.

I found these but they have been sold out for months and doesn't appear they'll be coming back.

The shorts that you want probably don't exist. You seem to have rejected synthetic fabrics as you consider them plasticky, that leaves thin almost mesh natural fibre fabrics such as cotton muslin cheesecloth.

I don't have a problem with synthetic. there are lots of fabrics that are light sheer or semi sheer that aren't vinyl. I did search for gauze trunks but to no avail. That fabric might be interesting but I have no idea how to make a swimsuit.

Also, these Adidas unlined shorts (note the style - retro, but with neither the Sprinter overlapping side flap, nor the Beckenbauer side notch) become really quite see-through when wet, especiailly where the material clings to the skin. I own a pair and swim in threm at my gym pool occasionally, and I would not be comfortable doing so if I didn't have a towel right next to the edge of the pool when I get out. In fact, even when dry, they are somewhat see-through. When wearing coloured (but quite pale colour) briefs underneath, it is clear that I am doing so. These shorts have been flowing onto UK ebay for months if not years from various sellers, I suppose a large cache must have come onto the market to wholesalers a while back.
