Default Choosing what to wear

Okay, so I guess I can relate to a lot of you guys on here that have dozens and dozens of racer cut suits (swim briefs or "speedos")...

I recently went on a buying binge, and before I knew it, I had added another 8 pair of jammers to my collection. That brings my total to about 19. (In the new additions, I have my very first 100% polyester jammers. All the others are a nylon/lycra blend.)

So, now, I am wondering.. when it comes time for you to go swimming, how do you decide which suit to wear? Do you decide based on fabric content? Color or print? --and the former as related to your mood or the swimming venue? Do you systematically rotate through them so none get worn out faster than others? Do you wear your least favorite the most, so it takes the brunt of the wear and tear, thus saving your most favorite suits for special occasions? (And if so, do you purposely get a few suits you hate the looks of, specifically for that purpose?)

Please, enlighten me!

As my name suggests, some of my swimwear is a bit more revealing than what most in here wear, and I use them more often for sunning than swimming. That said, there are several factors that go into my choice of what to wear. First is location, of course. At the community pool, I wouldn't wear a thong or overly revealing brief. Conversely, when I'm on vacation with my thonging group, I would most likely leave the square-cuts at home. I do have favorite suits, which I wear often during the season. But I try to rotate as many different ones as I can. I do have ones that only come out for special events. Some because I want to keep them nice for as long as I can, some because they are only appropriate for certain venues. I don't really pay too much attention to fabric, beyond making sure it isn't too see-through for where I am. I like all sorts of color, so that is just what suits my mood at the time. Hope that is what you were looking for

Hey Capt Jam, great question to which there are many answers. First, depends on what I am doing. I have suits that are mainly for swimming workouts and suits that I only wear to hang out, lay in sun, etc. The exact suit I choose depends mostly on my mood or what I am feeling at the time. I never wear the same suit twice in a row, either. So, I do sort of rotate through them, but not systematically. My absolute favorites never get in chlorine, so I save them for open water swims or lounging at the lake or on the boats. I don't really have suits I don't like so that is not an issue. Hope this helps. Congrats on the growing collection.

If I'm going to a pool then I taking 2 pairs of 2" swim briefs, waist cords get pulled out accidently so a spare pair is essential. I'd usually take my black with white and yellow trim Speedos as first choice and maybe my navy Diana's as back up (they may a sort of paper Lycra). if it is a pool I have recently visited several times and know to be safe I'll wear different briefs each time and start wearing something more colourful once I am known there.

Going to the beach I'll take a 2" Speedo, 1" bikini and maybe a swim thong, I'll decide what to wear when I arrive and see who is about, I tend to go to quiet beaches away from the madding crowd. I'll arrive at a beach in fairly short shorts and change into swimwear when appropriate. In France I'll walk around the "town beach" in 2" speedos but wouldn't try that in England.
The objective is to wear as little as possible without appearing out of place in any setting.

For this years I've identified four briefs to wear. One Aronik, two Hom and a Bogner, and I'm wearing them is strict rotation. Even if I went swimming twice a week there would be fortnight apart for each one.

When I go to the beach, it all depends on the beach and what kind of crowd there will be. I tend to bring a squarecut and a bikini or brief style. I always prefer to wear the smaller suit, but I don't always feel comfortable. I can pretty much wear a squarecut suit anywhere though and feel okay. My wife hates it when I make such a big deal out of which suit to bring. I've been trying to just wear one suit under my shorts and take my shorts off when I get to the beach. Onlookers be damned.

Because my usual tanning suit is a thong, I often use a brief as my cover-up. It has the added advantage that if I find myself in a thong-hostile situation, I can keep the brief on and no one is the wiser
