I used your link, followed from video to video until I found the original 2001 version of Waterboys. (English subtitles)

Great speedo movie that I haven't been able to find before although I have seen the sequels and the tv series.

Sebbie mentions the popularity of briefer suits at certain beaches such as Waikiki - but Waikiki is hardly a 'typical' US beach, with it's wealthier and often Asian clientele. More typical beaches might be Myrtle Beach (in the 'Bible Belt' south - where I've worn a Speedo with no harassment), the beach near Corpus Christi, Texas (again where I've had no harassment), Bethany Beach, Delaware (many times - no harassment), Wildwood, NJ (no harassment, though the beach was fairly empty that day), Presque Isle beach at Lake Erie (no harassment, but did get a couple of glances), Long Beach, CA (no harassment), and pools nationwide.

And again I state there is no "anti-Speedo movement" anywhere except in the minds of some people on this board who have a fetish about the suits, and think it should be natural to wear one while shopping at the mall, dining at a restaurant, etc. Most people - even the 'right-wing Christian extremists' some see hiding under every bed - pay no notice to the issue of Speedos simply because they are a non-issue to begin with!

I do agree with Swimmboy that wearing a Speedo type suit is really not the big deal lots of guys try to make it. I have also worn brief cut suits at many of the beaches that Swimmboy mentions and others and it has never been an issue. I also run at the beach in my suits and have never had a problem. It is the only type suit I wear when the situation calls for a swimsujit. I think some guys are so fraught with fear to wear a brief cut suit that they take any glance as an adverse reaction.

Then around 1990 I attended a convention and stayed at a Hotel in San Diego. There, you often were wearing too much clothing if you wore a brief suit. I wore thongs most of the time, and thats what many of the guys around the pool and esp the hot tub were wearing. I have thongs and a skimpy brief style suit of the same color. I would slip the brief over the thong and head off to the pool or tub. Then I would check out what the other guys around me were wearing, and slip off the brief to reveal the thong or not, depending on what was going on at the moment.

My visits to department stores at various locations and times in Florida suggests that the big department stores (Macys, J.C. Penney, etc) routinely carry skimpier swimsuits for men than we currently see locally. I gues its all a matter of what sells to the local crowd.

I too feel that all this talk about Speedos being banned in certain places and by certain groups is overrated. If a person has so many hangups that somehow a brief-style suit on a man is offensive thats a problem of the person with the hangups not a problem for the swimsuit wearer!

This is a little off topic from the OP, but similar to the above post. In 1987 I was in USAF tech school in Biloxi MS. After classes were over each day, many of us would hang out at the pool in the student area of the base. Most of the guys wore speedos, which was great! Every afternoon was spent hanging out at the pool watching hot young Air Force guys in speedos!

One day I noticed a cute guy who was wearing a pair of shorts, laying out by the pool. Every time he would go in the pool, he would take off the shorts, revealing speedos, and quickly jump in the water. When he got out, he would quickly pull on his shorts and lie down again. From a better vantage point, I watched this routine again, and discovered that this guy was hung like a horse......with a massive bulge in that speedo.....and I could tell he wasn't even hard!

Apparently this guy was so embarrased by his own size, he covered it up when in full view. But at least he still enjoyed wearing speedos, LOL.
