trending in Rio?
I think not - I looked at six pics for something "colorful" and was distinctly underwhelmed.

As men and boys get to wear shorter shorts and then speedos they will get the confidence to wear the more colourful swimsuit and move away from the safety of black.

I've noticed a lot more guys wearing short shorts.
I started wearing them in public back in late 2012 and I don't know if it was me who started the trend or a case of great minds thinking alike. |

It is a case of pushing the envelope. If you wear shorter shorts then someone will notice and approve and wear something similar, once enough guys are wearing shorter shorts then you can get away with something even shorter, but maybe someone will have beaten you to it.

The fashion pendulum swings back and forth, back and forth...
Just as gigantic loose sagging jeans are out of favor, with trendy guys now wearing super tight jeans and even "meggings", mid-calf dork shorts are bound to be replaced by more practical swimwear. It's a series of small steps from loose short shorts, to tight short shorts, to square cuts, to briefs. Most members of this forum probably never followed the trend to longer and looser, so our only change will be feeling validated when the fashionistas catch up to our avant taste. |

the pendulum
Quite so - I guess the modern young trendies turning out in their fashionable skinny jeans* wouldn't know much about the old Teddy Boys and their drainpipes.
(*which some should certainly leave aside from what I have seen) Bring back the codpiece I say ! |
