Any non-swimmers or posters new to swimming or learning to swim?
Did you find it hard to learn? |

First you have to get into the water.
Get into slightly deeper water and start to feel your bodies buoyancy as you stand on tip toes. Put on some goggles and learn to get your face in the water. Learn to blow out (through your mouth) while your face is under water then breath in (through your mouth) with your face in the air. Doing this in the wrong order will cause a choking reaction. Have fun and get used to the water. All the swimmers in the pool will know your are a beginner, respect you for learning to swim as an adult. They've all been through what your going through and will understand. |

Many city rec centers and private businesses offer adult swim classes (and even private lessons). You can get comfortable in the water alone, but lessons are needed to really learn how to swim. It’s a full-body sport, with many things going on at the same time. Trying to teach yourself swimming is like trying to teach yourself thermodynamics.
But unlike thermodynamics, it is a learnable skill for average people. |

A friend suggested Total Immersion to me when I was starting out and within maybe 6 months of doing some of the drills and applying the concepts, I was one of the fast guys and getting plenty of comments on my form.

I took a Total Immersion weekend class and learned a lot. Highly recommended! (I’m still slow, though) |
