Never heard of the author before but it seems that The Slap previously received some critical acclaim.

I heard a review on BBC Radio 4 book program yesterday (possibly A Good Read), although flawed the panel enjoyed it. It is a coming of age novel about a young swimmer. Thought it might be interesting so bought the Kindle version, it doesn't appear to be ready for distribution yet.

There are 25 reviews by readers on Amazon, at least I found them on the US Amazon. The reviews are all over the place, but they were all over the place on the author's other book, 'the slap" too.

Heck, I keep hoping for justy ONE review of my book on Amazon, good OR bad.

Negative reviews are not necessarily bad for sales. Apparently, oon Barracuda, some readers were put off by the fact that the book is fairly explicit with respect to what takes place in gay sex.
