and by the way, how do you know it's Vuthy?
I looked on Vuthy's website (which apparently doesn't sell to the public directly), but couldn't anything similar. |

club?

This pic of a swimmer in blue is captioned "never seen a speedo as small as this before". He wears it well but it is tantalising not to see his club emblem properly on the top of his swim-cap. It is a roaring lion's head in black - does anyone recognise such a team? (it is written also as ........something......swimming) Last edited by Byron : 04-03-2014 at 08:53 AM. |

Torchwatch a raison c est un thong, pas un string.
Is not a string a long thin cord, if the sides of the garmrnt is wider then a string then it has to be a thong, am i right Torchwatch. |

re.post#25
LOL - the more I look at this the more I am convinced it is a female garment. For one thing photos always present the front for advertising underwear/swimwear and as a piece of decoration the little embellished tricolor would be expected to be seen at the front when wearing it , and not lost down a male butt crack at the rear.
Therefore do we regard this as a woman's thong despite the photo caption "Le String"? The explanations "lingerie feminine/maillot de bain/un simple cache-sexe" appear here: http://dictionary.reverso.net/french-definition/string (I can trace no definition of string as male apparel and just to add my own little complication to the discussion I would regard a cache-sexe as a male posing pouch (with string) as depicted in what I believe are called vintage for the physique photos of the Fifties). Attempted Definitions
A G string (or posing pouch) has a pouch front, a strip of elastic waist band, and a strip of elastic rear, that passes through the ass crack. The elastic may be replaces with actual string, but this has to be tied to the correct tension.
A thong has a pouch front and a much reduced fabric rear that passes though the ass crack. The waist elastic and 2 leg elastic loops are built into the fabric of the suit. A thong is come comfortable than a G string as it doesn't have a cheese wire effect on rear of the wearer. A string bikini is a side-less swimsuit with a fabric front and back held together with an elastic or string waist band. The rear may vary from a Brazilian to a full cut, but must cover the ass crack (or it would be a thong), although a low cut string bikini may expose the top of the ass crack. String bikinis using string need to have the side strings tied to the correct tension, while an elastic string bikini may have the elastic sides enclosed in fabric for a good finish. Some brands use assorted hooks etc to join the sides and decorate the suit. The underwear version of a string bikini is sometimes called a Tanga. The more one attempts to define swimwear the more difficult it becomes due to regional and language variations. Last edited by Torchwatch : 04-03-2014 at 06:41 PM. |

what's in a word...
Good effort Tw and difficult indeed. Since last posting I have managed to trace my source for the particular item (neutral word) in white, viz:
