Default speedos under board shorts?

the first time I saw this was in a high school trip I made in 2001. one of my best friends was into competitive swimming and seems he was a speedo wearer. when we got into the swimming pool I remember I saw he wore firstly a speedo and then the board shorts. I remember my shorts had some kind of "net" lining like briefs so I asked him why he wore it. he told me his board shorts didn't had support. he was the only one doing that on that day.
well, it was some time later I realised some Quicksilver, Billabong, etc. board shorts haven't got any support for the balls! I wonder how surfers would wear this all day long with those uncomfortable shorts.

but certainly I would buy one of these and then wear a speedo just because it would be a nice pretext to wear speedos in an anti-speedo enviroment.

what do you think about this? it looks stupid, bad, ok...?

Default support

Sounds as if your schoolmate had the right idea (I for one preferred a speedo over a jock when playing badminton in shorts).
I don't feel it can look stupid as who sees it anyway?

have recently (before starting this thread) searched about this topic in many web sites and surfing forums and some sufers think it looks silly and they wouldn't wear a speedo even under boardshorts.

It is silly. You really shouldn't need to wear anything under board shorts. Why hide your real swimsuit under something that is not really made for swimming?

You can wear that to the beach and take the shorts off if you want a swim.

I have also noticed that some club swimmers wearing jammers have speedos underneath.

Default speedo under another suit

Yes I have seen something like this when I swim laps at the Purdue Aquatic Center...not to sound like a creeper - but some guys, I would say more for the younger set, when they are changing, they first put on a traditional speedo (2"-3" sides), and then put on - not knee length jammers - but sort of a loose boxer cut suit. Apparently the looseness creates more drag and is more challenging to swim. THus when they actually swim in just the speedo or jammer, they move faster. Again I've only seen younger guys do this. Mainly good, or someone said, "club" swimmers, though not on Purdue's swim team.
