Looking for something different

Hey all, first post, but I used to read the old text-based forums.

I used to have a suit like the one I drew here on my iPad, but can't find anything like it anymore...might anyone know who made it? or makes different swimwear like this?

The material is joined at the back like normal, but wraps around front and crosses over each other and meets at the legs. The waistband is a crossing of the two pieces of material.

Beats me but most interesting - never seen a speedo like that before and would have to hand its ID over to Torchwatch.
Can you give an approximate date and material(s) used ?
The front waistband confuses me - presumably there would be no draw cord
within as it does not follow a straight line ?

I had it back in 2004-ish. There was no drawcord...it just stayed up on it's own, and it was not a straight line, but it was straighter than I drew it. It was pretty low-rise.

Torchwatch, let me know if you'd like me to try and draw any other aspects of it.

I suspected that the top edges of the front panels would be straight rather than curved, as the curves are convex and elasticated it would seem strange for it not to fold over into a straight line. Elastic only works on concave curves and straight lines.
If I tried to copy this suit I would start with the same contour swim pattern that I used for the padded triathlon suit, then start modifying the pattern.
Part of the fun of sewing a suit is altering a standard pattern and not quite knowing how it will look until it is finished.
The pouch part of this suit looks rather unlined in the photo.

I went back into my database and found that I purchased this in 2004 and a place called Bear Wear. For some reason I am sure I would remember where that store was located, but it escapes me now.

One thing about that suit. The lycra seemed extra heavy duty. Thick and had some weight to it. Not sure how that got it tat way but I like it.

I too like the heavier Lycra - some suits seem to have simply no body to the fabric at all.
It seems Bear Wear started in Arenas Avenue Palm Springs in 2003 but very disappointing website - just nine expensive swimshorts there.
