I will say one thing. Seeing a older guy in speedos who isn't morbidly obese to me looks like he's all business. He isn't here to stare at teenagers and get wasted. There are exceptions to the rule but....

Bede,

I know exactly what you mean. As you know from my posts, I just started lap swimming about 3 months ago, so my only experience is wearing very snug, low cut briefs. I absolutely cannot imagine swimming laps in boardshorts

Default older guy....

Re.post#41 I need some translation there please knikon - I don't follow the slang connections to understand the guy envisaged "here" (where?) in the description.
We start with him not being morbidly obese and he is "all business" (what business?).
He doesn't stare nor get "wasted" (wasted is excessive consumption of drink and/or drugs ?)

Meaning that typically if I see an older guy on the beach ("here" as I almost never am at a pool) in a speedo who is somewhat to fully fit he is working out or swimming or engaging in an athletic activity and not acting like a fratboy (yes in california there are guys MANY guys who go to the beach to specifically hit on young girls and get intoxicated or high which really isn't legal)

Hmmm I interpreted the "All business" as being someone who was not wearing brief swimw4ear in an obvious effort to cruise for a sexual partner. One of the problems swim briefs have is a lot of the public associates the style with gay guys interested in displaying the bumps and bulges of what they have in an effort to find a sexual partner. The appearance of gay guys wearing tiny swim briefs in gay pride parades reinforces the stereotype that this is the type of recreational wear associated with guys who are looking for a male partner for casual sex. Part of the problem of wider acceptance of brief swimwear for all guys regardless of sexual orientation is for the populatiuon at large to somehow get this association out of their collective heads. But gay guys' fascination with seeing other guys wearing minimal swimwear will probably always remain. It's just the gay version of straight men's fascination and turn-ons with seeing women (See Kate Upton photos posted on this site) also in skimpy, tight-fitting and revealing clothing. A lot of initial sexual arousal for all guys regardless of orientation is all about seeing all sorts of different bumps and bulges of the anatomy pressing up against tight fitting garb, and thinking about what the person in the garb must be feeling sexually at the very moment wearing that.

For a lot of gay guys its wildly erotic just to even think about another guy pulling on a tiny swim brief and then getting aroused enough so he starts to precum in it showing a wet quarter-sized spot at the very tip of where his penis is positioned in the brief, and then finding an actual and willing male partner interested in doing just that in real life is really over the top. To my way of thinking, from a gay-guy perspective this is all as normal as sunshine, just the gay version of a straight guys interest in seeing a female partner wearing tiny lingere or a little bikini and then thinking about how she might be turned on by the situation at hand as well. Sexual arousal gay and straight is a lot about fantasizing what must be going on with respect to what the partner must also be feeling sexually moment by moment, and that is part of what makes experiences with a partner superior to solo sex. Knowing that your partner is experiencing something at least as pleasant as what you are experiencing yourself is a huge turn-on. If this weren't true humans would likely never be motivated to find partners.

So the association between sexual arousal and skimpy Lycra clothing that reveals bumps and bulges will always remain.

Sebbie

Knikon,

I interpreted your post about "all business" exactly as you explained it in your later post, and as one of those older guys I agree with your premise.

Default Doing the business

My thanks to knikon for later post - much more interesting to read and to understand the CA lifestyle; probably not known at first hand by so many on the forum, like myself.

sebbie is right too. All business better put is that the wearer is not out to primarily get sexual gratification.

The California lifestyle can be both attractive and repulsive. Much of it makes little to no sense from my perspective

That could be said of anywhere in the world. Every country, state, city or town has things they are proud of and things they need to work on.

Default I will never stop wearing them

I spent years swimming as much as possible. In college, I wore speedos under my summer shorts because I knew I'd end up in a pool. Then, twenty years ago, I started wrestling. Suddenly I had a new use for my collection of suits. I don't swim much anymore, but my speedos still get plenty of use. I even keep all sizes so my friends/wrestling partners can wear them, too.

Why stop wearing them???
