Tyr suit
I've been messing around with a little Tyr suit. It is a standard Tyr product but 4+ inches smaller in waist size. My "normal" waist size is 30-32", but this one is 26 inches.
There are several things that happen downsizing by this significant amount. I can still get into the suit ok, but the fit all around is much snugger and tighter The sides of the suit seem narrower, in part because they are, but also because as the suit stretches horizontally. One of the issues is this amount of downsizing tends to accentuate any fat and you have to have a really low BMI to pull this off as any fat tends to bulge. However, if I wore this suit over and over, it would stretch more horizontally, and the sides would probably look still narrower. I think a lot of the narrow-sided suits you guys are admiring in various photos are really just standard suits with about 2-inch sides on a 32 waist, pretty much, but suits that were originally 4-6 inches smaller in waist size than the guy's actual waist. These suits have been worn over and over and stretch horizontally. When that happens they will ride way low on the hips, but the horizontal stretching makes the sides look narrower. This works well in terms of the look esp for the guys with low BMI. You are seeing these guys in well-worn not new suits If I wore this suit a lot, it would stretch hoeizontally and look better on me as well. On an unrelated topic, I am almost exactly one year past my hip break and repair surgery. The injured leg looks pretty healthy and is nearly the size of the non-injured leg now in this photo, and I'm doing stationary bike riding to supplement my stationary rowing. http://www.sebringsil.com/sua.jpg Have fun running your own downsizing "experiments". It's always fun to see what you can learn about yourself and specifically how much snugness that your body can "tolerate" in this regard. I do my stationary Bike riding in Lycra and a really nice strap, but that is a story for another forum and another day. I have lots of tricks to make the riding time pass quickly. The bike riding is improving my flexibility especially on the broke hip leg, and making it easier to get in and out of my hot tub. The right items can make exercise programs go faster. Sebbie |
