Females tend to be shorter and have a lower centre of gravity than males, this allows them to do gymnastics more easily. Although classed as part of swimming, diving has a lot in common with gymnastics.
Short and skinny boys that enrol for gymnastics or diving classes may find themselves dominated by aggressive older girls and choose to let them get on with it, while not returning themselves.
The short and skinny boys who receive coaching and protection gradually muscle up and become better at gymnastics and diving than the girls. It's the way it is.
