what do they do with there speedos
I always wondeered what famous divers , swimmers, like Tom Daley and Alex Despatie (and many outhers) do with all the suits they have and get
Wene I view there pictures they are always wearing different suits, not mentionning those they get by there sponsors such as Adidas , and Speedo etc... They must have dozens if not hundreds of them, just what do they do with them wene no longer used. Do they dispose of them somehow such as giving them to charity, or selling them, or just destroying them etc. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THEM IF YOU WRE A FAMOUS DIVER OR SWIMMER. |

suit disposal
Put them on Ebay and say "as worn by me in xxxx event" - and then watch the bids spiral to dizzying heights!
(on second thought that could damage the ego if nobody was the slightest bit interested - so best to leave them in the closet I think). |

no different than other athetes

Some items go to exhibits, such as hall of fame (Int'l Swim. Hall of Fame), some are given away and autographed (you can see Michael Phelps autographed caps on eBay) but I think a fan is selling it,not the athlete. I don't see the athlete putting them on auction on eBay, but perhaps they will donate items to a charity so that organization can sell them. http://www.ishof.org/museum/virtual_museum.htm is one exhibit I think most suits are thrown away unless athlete chooses to give them for charity. Unlike baseball, I don't see a world of collectives bought and sold for swimmers. In baseball you can get bats, balls and other items. Last edited by JamesSwim : 01-21-2013 at 05:00 PM. |

Thanks - was aware of Speedo Museum Sydney but had not heard of Fort Lauderdale's Hall of Fame.
What a sign of past times - athletes promoting CIGARETTES ! |
