Default Vacationing in Las Vegas

My partner and I are going to Las Vegas next month for a week. Can anybody recommend any hotels/resorts for our stay? Also, can you recommend any places of interest where we can do activities in spandex like hiking, biking, etc?

Default Wide Range

Not knowing what you are looking for all I can do is suggest. There is one hotel called the Blue Moon that is a gay property so lycra/spandex/speedos are never out of place. It is off the strip and quite nice from what I have been told.
Personally, I like upscale so go for the Bellagio Villas. Like small apartments and some with private pool. The Aria Suites (separate from Aria hotel) are also quite nice but lack the patio. The Cosmopolitan is beautiful and kitchy but I wasn't pleased with service. The Oriental (also in City Center complex) is superb. The most pricey but if you use your Platinum American Express they do have "deals". It has no casino. In a more tame price range would be the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly LV Hilton) has wonder Lanai Suites. They have private patios and very comfortable. Hotel is off strip so if you will be using your car to get to hiking or going to the dam, it is a good spot. Plus the monorail stops in the hotel so easy to get to strip. Traffic on "The Strip" has turned into a parking lot and it can take as much as 30 minutes to go one block. Frustrating when you are trying to make a reservation or show and twice as bad if you hired a driver and are paying him to sit.
Keep tabs on the weather before you go. It may be the desert but it is at a higher elevation so may not be as warm as expected. It usually runs about 10 degrees cooler than Palm Springs. Nights are cool - - -
Have Fun, hope this helps.
