I contacted the seller of the Serbia Turbo informing him the suit was not an official Olympic suit but just a Turbo for sale for only $40. (he had it tagged at over $100) He responded he didn't know but would check. When he relisted it the price dropped to "only" $99 --2 1/2 times retail. He knows and is out to rip guys off. He is like Radioguy (?) that is selling used items for for 3 or 4 times the price of the item new. Some people just like to rip off people and catering to the lazy or inexperienced shopper. Unfortunately, lately EBay is totally a "Buyer Beware" operation. Stolen items, used or reconditioned sold as new, counterfeits, bad copies and inferior items are too common. After they make a few bucks and/or get too many negative feedbacks they change their account and go for a whole new crop of suckers. EBay doesn't give a shit -- they collect their commission and laugh at those that think they monitor auctions.

One site I have yet to deal with, and I think I will continue.
On that line of thinking, I have some old (to me, but still look new) suits that ahhhhhh, well, I can't get into anymore. My collection started 35 years or so ago. I want these suits to go to a good home to be enjoyed, how would one go about such an endeavor. |

To quote the song " For the more you pay, the more it's worth"
The price of goods in a free market is dependant on supply and demand, if goods are properly described (and not fakes or seconds) then the seller sets the price and the buyer makes an offer or walks away. At the low end of the market suits are being sold at prices below the value of the fabric and elastic they are made from. While at the top end the value of materials and labour is only a small part of the sale price. A lot of shops/stores used to double the price they pay for goods and add a bit, but then a lot of shops are closing down down. |

re. post#4
PSD is quite right on Ebay - it's certainly not the 'bargain basement' which attracted so many buyers at the beginning of it all.
I'm also still trying to get Rimbaud111us to come clean on the Adidas team GB suit he wants to sell (page 2 of posts on the thread in the buy and sell forum) |

Addendum to Torchwatch's post above:
Antique dealers when asked the value of an item will often reply "Whatever someone somewhere is prepared to pay for it". |

As this thread is for 'clever or stupid' I would say stupid of BG. If this pic is genuine (note strange hairline) it is unfortunate is it not that someone would place the company logo in this position on TD's bum ? |
