Fort Lauderdale Intl Swimming Hall of Fame
I usually visit Fort Lauderdale for a couple of weeks every winter, and have always enjoyed doing short course laps at the aquatic complex adjacent to the ISHOF. I understand that it is closing soon, to be rebuilt on the same site. I know that there are lots of alternate swimming pools in the FL area. Are there any board members that have knowledge of when the closing will take place, and is there a pool that most will move to for lap swimming while the complex is being rebuilt?

I'm not sure what is up with the Hall of Fame. The actual museum/Hall of Fame has been looking for a new location for a couple years (sadly - I like it in FL). I have heard rumors the city of FL may want to move the pool/aquatic center to another location in FL - the land where the current facility is located (just 2 blocks from the beach and next to the Intracoastal Waterway) is prime real estate, and the city can probably get a ton of money for it if someone wants to build yet another high-rise monstrosity on that land.

The FLL aquatic Center is still going strong. I go there 4 - 5 times a week.
They keep delaying the renovation due to politics. I hope they put it off indefinitely. |

I understand the Swimming Hall of Fame has officially decided to leave Fort Lauderdale (after being there 50 years), and is moving to Santa Clara, California, near San Jose. Santa Clara is planning to build an aquatic center and Hall of Fame complex in their city. I think Fort Lauderdale made a mistake in not trying to keep the Hall of Fame.
