I'm thinking that the salt water isn't all that great on those bikes. I've seen what it does to cars in the winter. Hope they had enough sense to wash them with fresh water ASAP.

Yes, I don't know the salinity of the Med. (nothing as heavy as the Dead Sea* I guess) but I have read that automobiles live longest in the climate of CA. What so often happens in places with snow of course is that the salt put down on the highways is very corrosive to vehicles.
