Default Help from coach or captain

Just wondered for any who were on the swim team as middle or high schoolers if the coach or captain helped you size your speedos properly? If so tell us about it.

I worked in a sporting goods store that sold Speedos.
When mothers came in to buy a junior swimmer his first suit, it was frequently challenging to persuade them to buy the right size, rather than something the boy could “grow into”.

Semi related. When I coached junior high wrestling we were obligated to pass out jock straps, the original Bike brand. We had to ask each boy what size and of corse all said large. I had to explain to them that it was waist size and nothing more.

Yup we saw that all the time with new kids joining the swim club. It just doesn't work.
