Arena28, tell us a little more about the pool/beach clothing scene in Japan for both young men and women.

Here is the US, it is the women who wear the almost not there string bikinis and even thongs, along with tops that cover very little besides the nipples. THe young womens' swimwear here is not modest at all. BUT the young men are all wearing the long polyester board shorts that keep everything covered almost to the knee.

From what I have seen of young Japanrese men and women, (mostly from observing at the beach at Waikiki in Hawaii and my observations are getting pretty old), the young women mostly wear very modest one-piece suits that basically provide full coverage top and bottom, and seldom the two piece suits so popular for women here in the US.

BUT the Japansse men generally are fond of the really tiny speedo-style suits, with a very low rise often revealing a bit of pubic hair with very little coverage. Thongs for men are generally not the choice but instead very tiny bikini briefs like the ones you have been showing us.

My information on all of this is quite old and I would appreciate knowing whether this is still all true.

Over in Europe, the young women wear the tiny bikini bottoms popular here in the US, but are less reluctant to remove the tops entirely. The European mens' suits used to be almost as small as the Jap[anese ones, but periodically someone here writes that briefs are only worn by older guys in Europe now, and that all the guys in the teens and twenties have moved on to US style board shorts.

THe South American scene now seems to be dominated by really small bikini or thong bottoms for women, but almost always a top of some sort to at least cover the nipples. The male scence seems to have transitioned from a bikini style brief to what is called there a sunga, which is nearly a brief in fit but with much wider sides 5-6" long,..very different from what you are wearing in Japan too, where sides are very short, an inch or even less.
