The Tarzan loincloth consists of a long foot wide strip of fabric and a waist belt.
Put it on as if it is a Japanese Fundoshi; fold the fabric over the waist belt leaving enough to form the rear apron, tie on the waist belt, with legs apart pick up the remainer of the fabric and pass it between the body and the front of the waist belt. You'll find yourself contained in a comfortable and secure pouch.
For stage use sneak elastic into the waist belt and sew it into a loop so the knott is cosmetic (the loincloth won't fall of even if the knott comes undone).
Fix the position of the fabric strip by sewing it into the waist belt.

Cheap costume shop Tarzan loincloths have the front and rear aprons sewn directly onto the waist belt without the body section in between making separate briefs esential. They are prone to costume malfunctions.

The fabric used in a Tarzan loincloth should be leather, a African native form of rawhide, sourcing it will be fun.
