Rio Olympic beach volleyball attire

Women, bikini type top and almost thong bikini bottoms.

Men, loose tank top and knee length baggy shorts.

I just don't get it, why such a dramatic difference in attire for the same venue and the same level of physical activity?

Double standard

No doubt about it.

Same with the athletics. Women seem to compete in bikinis nowadays.

Seems that equality would require the men to compete in a brief cut like the women's, but with a shallow pouch front of course. That would go a long way to getting briefs re introduced to males on the beach. It probably would increase the female fan attendance also.

Can you imagine if all had to wear "Rio" back briefs? It would be fitting for the venue!
