why do hot guys wear 3-4 inch speedos?
There ought to be a law against hot guys wearing speedos with sideseams greater than 1.55" :D
It totally distorts there image! Less fabric == better/sexier! |
sorry...forgot to add pic

here it is...you speedo freeks! :p

two swimmers
:) LOL - nice pic - and don't feel I am being robbed in this case by having to view guys with images distorted in their choice of speedos.
Btw, your sideseam specification to two decimal points might be expecting a little too much from the manufacturer's machinists ! |
Because it's the uniform of competitive swimmers. They are not in a fashion show nor trying to get a rise out of anyone. They just came there to swim fast, it's what they do.
|
I thought for competitive sports, less fabric was better?
|
As far as I know, the jammers are thought to be faster. I really don't know how they determine this, it's like the idea that we swim faster after shaving our legs. LOL. Whatever, anything for a faster time...
|
jammers
The bit I never understand when the cod-science of all this is presented is that the way jammers are worn so low a pocket of water resistance is created at the butt crack and so defeats the object of the intended "improvements".
|
Yes, many jammers are so low you wonder about water going into the suit (tunneling) and slowing a swimmer down. A US college swimmer told me a few yrs. ago the jammers were better than briefs because the tight fabric around their thighs gave added support to thigh muscles that get tired quickly in a race. Also, many fabrics are slicker than human skin, so covering more of the body helps you be slicker (and faster?) in the water.
|
I don't think tunnelling is a performance thing... it isn't part of any competitive swimming that I know of. I do know that swimmers who show butt crack at a swim meet will be asked to fix that. We want to keep it PG. The rules call for appropriate swim wear, the meet referee is in charge of defining that. And they do! You know, there is a time and a place for exhibitionism, but teens doing it around little kids is not going to be allowed at a USAS event, trust me.. .
|
tired muscles
Yes, I can understand that they are appreciated by some athletes as jammers are in effect compression shorts, assisting with physical stamina.
What needs to be pointed out however is that the satisfaction of achieving a new personal-best time does not equate with a win in competition. The runner has to break the line first and the swimmer still has to touch the wall first. If the guy in the next lane is also wearing his best jammers in order to beat you (100% visible in most championship meets now) why don't we even it all up and just go back to speedos? |
lecture about tunneling
Whilst protecting the innocence of kids is an important issue I would point out that the word speedo was only used in this thread until jammers were introduced in post#6 - and then tunneling
(for which there is a separate thread on this forum) |
Well I guess when we see a championship performance happen by the wearer of a brief suit, your question might be asked of someone who can give a credible answer. Meanwhile the answer to the question whether less is better must be NO, obviously. For competitive swimming, that is. Ogling and drooling is another matter but for all you know some swimmers (or their parents) might not want to have their photos end up in such a discussion as these tend to... LOL ... do we really wonder why speedos aren't as popular as some wish they were? It's hilarious how an athlete's performance is rated by bulge and clarity through lining... In today's tech the most innocent little photo on facebook gets blown up and printed and viewed one handed all over the world.
Thanks for helping me figure this out. :) |
It depends on the suit. Tech suits (they're really expensive) are faster than skin, so more fabric = faster. If not, skin is faster so more skin = faster. It just depends on the suit.

The strict specification led to limited results:
Red: http://www.aussiespeedoguy.net/speed...yredspeedo.jpg Blue: http://25.media.tumblr.com/7ab536401...u6buo1_500.jpg Oh yes, this guy should also explain himself (all at sea I think) http://farm1.static.flickr.com/184/3...8cef7935d2.jpg |
I always like 1/2" less than 1" bikinis. Blue and red pictures clearly explained the reason. They are just looking fine, how they framed the male bodies.
Since I was a kid, recreational swimming, lessons, high school gym classes, I always wore 2", 2-1/2" Speedo type briefs. During the 90's 1/2" bikinis were widely available for purchasing usually by mail. I started collecting them even after 2000's. My cruise photo above, those type of swimsuits were resembling Japanese fundoshi or styles of the exotic islands in the Pacific where men wore to fishing or dancing. The front coverage cloth slide along, you can control the amount of exposure. I have some interest on them. These type of special swimsuits were easily available from International Male/Undergear catalogs, where they stock specialty swimsuits wore and photographed by handsome male models. But I don't really look good wearing 1/2" styles. Then came the Sunga/Aussiebum style square cut swimsuits. My point of view, about whether 3" to 4" or boxers or briefs, it got to do with "FASHION". Sunga cuttings are "IN" right now. They are looking great on a men, they are the trend. |
agree....
Your latest ABs look better at the springs.
LOL - realise , now that I look more carefully , that you had on the old sliding front suit. That brings back memories - never seen in years now. Will be interesting to see what 2016 does for sunga sales - I think I should buy some company shares in readiness. |

good pics
Walking up the path no.1 gives you definition
Also found a guy in nice speedos (brand I cannot determine) running, not walking - and from New Zealand which we don't often hear about: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lq...krgo1_1280.jpg |

Before this trip, I had to rush to finish my jobs before leaving. For this self-guided tour, I knew nothing about the place. I spent most of the time learning the geographic of the areas, planning the routes, made bookings. I missed most of my weight training. So, the time I took the photos were not in my good shape. |

pix maybe not so limited...
This speedo would appear to comply on side seam requirement and showing glutes and tunnel as well - and so relates also to posts in other threads (and looks like we also have a double presentation of the guy):
http://25.media.tumblr.com/5c6e4f607...yfmo1_1280.jpg And the fuller picture: http://31.media.tumblr.com/7ae11468b...mwvno1_500.jpg |
also impressive....
I like this one - side seams comply - and some Apollo too: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6...bi9io1_500.jpg

re. post#23
PS: any observant readers want to say something about bracelet?
|
#23 is a very good model, the whole presentation of body and swimsuit was very perfect.
#24 I love this black suit or same type very much ! |
post #23 pics
Definetely have to agree with NJHunk about the model is post 23 pics. He's got the perfect bod for the suit.
Any ideas who manufactures the suit? I like the way the threading is quite prominent on the fabric itself. It seems to give it more definition |
I suspect that it is home made, the suit should have been finished with a straight stitch or even 2 parallel straight stitches, but they used a zigzag instead. It has been specially made for him to look as if it is falling off his body using fairly tight fabric and slack elastic.
This suit was made to be photographed, nothing in the 2 pictures is accidental, in the poolside shot the model has been oiled, his bikini wetted in the pool and carefully pulled on to order, then he was sprayed with water from a gun for the exact desired result. Any offers to rub in the oil or hold the spray gun for the next photo shoot? |
good point...
Zigzag stitching caught my eye as something out of the ordinary ( I would even go so far as to be suspicious of a bit of photoshop on this model's second image).
LOL, whatever - it seems to serve for pulling several recent posts together. |
Both Prevail sport & Skin zwear use "ZIGZAG" stitching. But true the zigzag stitching on the suit in #23 photo was looking really bad. Fabric wise, it may be a bodybuilding posing suit. You can search some bodybuilders wore these type of fabric on stage competitions.

amazing..
This good looking guy a 1.55 I estimate: http://24.media.tumblr.com/b332927c9...dlxbo1_500.jpg

My favorite swimsuit style.
Prevailsport String Bikini, in Egyptian Block pattern. Taken a few years back. What do you think of this swimsuit? ![]() ![]() |
Nice suit, nice pics.
The hydrant places you in America, but where exactly are you, looks like a runway. |

It was Keansburg, NJ. A few years ago, when my body was down to my leanest, I set up this self photo shoot. Brought together 6-7 newly purchased swimsuits along, each took 4+ numbers of photos, both front and back. Purpose was to view my body (building) progress, and how the suits fit my body shape. The place was a community beach/recreation area at Keansburg. A bit run down, quiet place which specially chosen so I can concentrate on my photography. A beach that has no lifeguard, dirty, but only good for sunning , picnic and feet touching water on a hot day. Complete with children playground and ball courts. Quote:
Last year, Hurricane Sandy flooded the whole vicinity area, probably destroyed a lot the houses. |
wearing low.....
More than a 1.55 but this guy has a perfect non-oriental body for wearing this suit I would say: http://24.media.tumblr.com/c93f146aa...0xcxo1_500.jpg
|
That's a great suit from prevail sport. I just don't like the fact that they do not include a drawstring to tie it. In case I want to go into the water, I prefer it not slipping off. I guess if you are going to wear it at home, strings are not a necessity.
The last pic is quite amazing as well! |
also.....
great pic in post#31 as well I thought - but poor resolution in the lines of the suit make me suspicious of a photo-shop job. Any opinions?
