The boldest of us all
My vote would go for NJHunkguy (for the time being, unless...........
and you................. He posted pics of him in very very(bis) skimpy swimsuits on the old board. unless well, it depends on you would you show off on beaches and pools in skimpy swimwear... |
Hi Louis, don't really know how to respond. I'll let other decide bold or not.
I guess these are our love to wear speedos, some like them skimpier the better. |
The boldest of us all
What I meant by bold is all the pictures of yourself you posted on the old board (the pics are taken at different beaches and places of yourself) you wearing very skimpy (sexy) swimwear.
And that is ok with me. Actually you are promoting wearing speedos contributing and helping outhers not to be ashamed to wear them. keep on doing it outhers should follow your example, I admit that I am not as bold as you are but seeing outhers (like yourself) wearing them would effectively give me courage to wear them, it would be ok not to be alone. |
PS
 Those old postings also produced a lot of argument about the submitted pics. being photo-shopped to flatter appearance on the various holiday beaches (for those who wish to view further, Flickr has a selection).
|
Of course the old board was full of lots of negativity and member bashing. I am glad that has yet to really show up here.
As for courage to wear a swim suit, I get confused by that. The basic Speedo style suit may show more of your body, but it is still a swim suit. Thongs and such are a whole different situation. |

yes, I'm amazed as to how the mood of this board has turned positive relative to the old one

Start with 3 inches first
A lot of the guys that I swim with would shy away from any speedos for their own reasons-most of which would be how they perceive modesty. I always say it's a lap pool damit and the objective in most cases is to improve your workout by being an "efficient" swimmer and part of that is streamlining and not dragging around a bunch of unnecisary material. I think that when a guy shows up with very very brief swimwear it kinds of turns us off and goes to prove the modesty point. I wear very tight jammers, square cuts and briefs depending on how I feel. Here in Vermont we all get and stay in shorts of some kind as long as we can-it's just comfortable to do so. The main point is that speedos are what should be worn while vigorously doing laps no one is looking at your suit but they know a "good swimmer" when they see one and that's great. If you don't want to tell a guy how great he looks in his brief suit at least tell him that he looks like a great swimmer
|
makes sense but....
there is some contradiction in what you report ie
"it kind of turns us off" but also "no one is looking" The turn-off must come from an examination of appearance so what is said to the guy wearing brief briefs and not in fact "a great swimmer" ? |
Dorcas, totally know what you mean... in Maine if it breaks 40 in the winter I am in shorts. You know you are in Northern New England if you have ever worn shorts and a parka at the same time (or worn a winter jacket and speedos to barbque on the deck...lol).
Byron, guys in racer style briefs just look like good swimmers...lol. On my bad days, I hope that my Speedo does the talking! |
Sebbie...
Love the pic. You look awesome and that suit looks great on you. Nice!
|
Sorry
Sorry I wasn't more clear in my differentiate almost indecent briefs and swimming. Guys that would show up at my Y's pools showing pubes and butt cracks are not there to seriously work out doing laps-I suspect other agendas. I am fortunate to have a build that lets me wear 2" briefs along with a lot of other serious swimmers. Guys in the masters program like me think nothing of wearing briefs starting from the locker room to the pools which some would consider to be quite a hike. Sometime we double wear if one of the suits starts to come apart from use-lycra will do that if you swim every day like I do. Helps to do your "drag" workout. Just get rid of those damend boardies!

Good God
Byron: Thanks for this. I can't imagine with all else that is going on this guy has this question! I do think that there may be a need for a rash guard if you are in the water for some time. Wave action in a very busy pool with shared lanes sometimes causes rash on your chest and shoulders and sometime the back. A guy that swims at the same time as me wears a very body hugging total body suit. He's a great swimmer and in great shape. He would get some rash if he didn't I think. have enjoyed your many posts and view.

rash comment
 Never quite sure how seriously to take some of these forums (and that was a students' one) but you have enlightened me about rashguards in pools, as I have only previously heard that talked about for surfers in the ocean waves.

I like speedo style swimwear in the pool and short shorts for running because they look and feel good - not because I'm "Cruising or signaling" for a hook up. Personally, I prefer some place where I can feel "In Synch" with other people's who share my thoughts and enjoyment and not be a "black sheep". Also, see my comment on "Tolerance". That tells you what's behind my thinking and also my opinion of homophobia. CD |

I Lap Swim ~ Ergo ~ I Speedo Swim !
40 years ago I was an avid noon hour Water Whaler, swimming 72 laps per day in a 25 yard pool. If my math is still any good, that still adds up to a mile a day. ~ ~ ~ I no longer count tile... and I now swim with fins and snorkel gear... training for this next Summer's ocean swimming and skin diving. I also use Speedo hand paddles... they help me finess my position around corral. I sure appreciate the 'boost' they give me both in terms of speed as well as ego. ~ ~ ~ there are a few serious swimmers occasionaly while I'm doing my training, you shouldn't have to ask what style of suit they are wearing! ~ ~ ~ One younger guy, strong arms... pretty good pull but lousy stroke and body mechanics... wears board shorts. ~ ~ ~ I won't let him graduate to swimmers trunks of whatever style, until he has taken some adult swimming lessons ~ ~ ~ We are an exclusive and uninhibited cult with high standards for good stroke mechanics ~ ~ ~ "Real Men And Women Wear Speedos" ~ ~ ~ I turn 69 in a few months... heading out today to XC ski in Strathcona Park ~ ~ many of the guys and gals wear tights... the obvious best choice for this activity..... HAve a nice day everyone :D
~ ~ ~ PS: My body is old and saggy... lots of wrinkled skin from seasonal weight gain and loss...BUT: "I swim ~ Therefore I am" ~ From The Old Ranger on The Big Island, Vancouver Island, BC !!~~!! |
Right on:
The tolerance article was great-thank you CD. I did some weight work with a couple of great guys that are doing some pre seal training. They are currently at UVM and will be in the Navy when they graduate. I also swim with them and they really kick as. They wear jammers and twist up out of the pool at the end of every lap and do leg and ab workout. They are in fabulous shape but I'm sure briefs wouldn't work for them because they'd twist out of them. I use short fins called Zoomers-they give great ankle and hamstring workout plus take pressure off the shoulders. Will wear my white Crootas tomorrow.

Maybe getting in the right kind of suit for swimming will give him the urge to become a better swimmer. While I am a very serious swimmer, I don't agree with the position that Speedo type suits are only to be worn by serious swimmers. I have seen some awesome non serious swimmers who rock a swim brief pretty darn well. |
Speedos for everbody
I agree-and I urge all of my friends to at least try wearing them. I have even bought some for them. Modesty goes out the window when you are in the hospital. There is a collegial environment at my pools where you engage in conversations about many things other than how much skin is showing. Just seems to be the right atmosphere to be almost naked with few hangups. Compared to many European countries we Americans are prudes. I don't see why girls have to cover their breasts until they need the support.

to wear or not to wear....
We all know that the girls in their frontal anatomy all have two bulges and these are provided for in the design of their swimsuits (putting aside for the moment the alluring appearance of some itsy bitsy triangles).
The guys on the other hand have one to accommodate in their swimsuits of a size and shape to be worn according to their style taste, self-perception, comfort, location of use, and/or demands of their leisure activity/sport. Should we not simply accept therefore that this endowment , coming also in various shapes and sizes as it does, is a fact of nature for males and efforts to flatten it out of existence should not be attempted for reasons of prudery ? |

Well said
Byron, your point is right on. I have never understood why so many girls and guys are hung up over seeing that a guy has a package. It just comes with the territory, much like what comes with the female body up top. The irony of this is that while the consensus opinion seems all hung up on not seeing a guys "junk" in a swim brief, it is OK to see how well a guy fills out a pair of tight jeans.
|
Maybe packages should have sizes
A package B backage C Package and the enormous D package Sebbie |
Americans truly are double standard prudes. Women run around in real skimpy bikinis but guys seem to be supposed to wear real baggy dumb looking shorts. A generation ago guys showed it off in real skimpy speedos and it was ok. Now one would think the country would collapse if they do so. Europeans, South Americans, and Asians are way ahead of us on this.
|
Singlets
Ever notice how guys show their Junk in their wrestling suits. You can even see if they are cut or not! And it's not unusual to see guys aroused because of the close body contact. There is nothing between your penis and the fabric and the rubbing that you do with the other guy brings it on with no control over it-part of the game-I know from experience. I used to get hard on by just climbing rope in high gym-but we just joked about it.
|
To those who are critical of speedos because they are "too revealing", I've always pointed out that jammers accentuate a guy's package more than a speedo.
However a speedo tends to follow the form of the body in the groin/leg area, but with jammers (or a tech suit), the first thing I always notice is that "Lump". CD |
alphabet men
 Did a bit of research on size classification Sebbie and seems to be fraught with difficulties if the ladies' brassiere experiences are anything to go by.
I won't bore you with all the intricacies of inter- and intra- national sizing problems however, so have a laugh instead: http://humorsection.blogspot.com/200...cup-sizes.html |
The late Russell Harty was once a teacher in a boys public school, the headmaster's wife attended the full dress rehearsal of the school play and demanded that Mr Harty address the boys. He had to tell them that in future performances all boys wear jockstraps under their tights. An unbroken voice asked "Does that include boys with small parts, sir?"
|
I had a college friend who was a wrestler in college. He used to get aroused all the time in his singlet in matches. Maybe worse than my swim suits, singlets really do show all. Once he had to stay laying on the floor on his stomach cause he was too turned on to stand up. When he finally did stand up, he stayed bent somewhat to try to hide his situation. He said a few times it was even worse.

New Singlet
I got a new one from N2N blue and white-fits great the one I used to wrestle in was made of some other polyester material-kind of rough. I think the first time I swim in it I will wear some shorts over it until I get in the pool because there's quite a bulge even before I get hard which I will. On the other hand I may wear one of my water polo briefs under it which are very tight but will help control my dick.

something to declare

Cod Piece?
Great Find Byron: It's impossible to hide your dick and nuts in a singlet. I would suggest that the make the bulge a permanent part of the suit by sewing in a semi rigid "cod piece" something like you see in the male ballet tights. Ballet guys also wear a thong with a soft cup. Goes to show you that everybody knows it's there so it just becomes part of the show. Proves the point that we are just so prudish about some things. I swam in a single sex Y pool in Raleigh NC when I was in the army at Ft. Bragg (82nd Airborne) bareass-suits were not allowed-the only thing that diving was a little hard on your nuts-thongs were'nt around then-Thanks again for finding this.

wrestle and dance
Good idea - Tab and Rudy probably prove your point:

You guys got me going. I started loonking at the Wrestling singlets on Amazon including some with school colors and logos
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...qid=1328875531 Of course, I had to put on my black asics wrestling singlet for stationary rowing this afternoon. But first, I put on a really snug strap and positioned myself "up". I now have a neat little bulge in just the right place. I hope I can make it throuigh my exercise routine this afternoon, but if I don't, oh well... SEbbie |
hard choice
:) Nice selection Sebbie - I think I go for the N2N.
Btw in Spain a big blanket seems to be required and I guess the bull is stopped in awe: http://tapthatguy.com/post/7458519492 |
The real challenge of wrestling singlets is that if you get to the point where you really got to get yourself out of the thing... its not an easy task. You can't just pull down the waist or slip out the leg opening. In a way, that is also part of what makes them hot.
|
Quote:
Male dancers' bulges are definitely part of the show, but not due to any artificial enhancement. When you pull your junk out from between your legs and plop it in front, it makes even a small white guy look like he's hung. Dancers wear a thing called a dancebelt under their tights. Some have minor padding to smooth things out, some don't, but they don't have a cup. All are thongs. http://dancebelt.info |
Dance Belt
I can't believe that dance belts have not been tried under singlets. If they haven't they should be-the might prevent a torsion problem with the scotum which can be damed painfull. I did not mean to suggest that ballet tights were enhanced in any way other than the natural size of a guys goods.
