Atlanta swimmer
There were two 1996 Olympic Golds for Gary Hall Jr. I think but the subsequent move into water polo does not fit.
|
It wasn't Hall - his name is Brad Schumacher, and he won two relay gold medals in 96 (4x200 free, 4x100 free), then made it onto the US Water Polo team in Sydney. One of the very few athletes to be an Olympian in two different sports.
|
Brad Schumacher
Hadn't heard of him but such
dual Olympian roles not seen since 1904 (interesting that Johnny Weissmuller was also a double in that way). Is Head Coach at SET water polo club now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn-Bl4-qykY |
Purdue speedos
1 Attachment(s)
This is one of the guys on the diving team at Purdue, I've seen him around the pool and practicing in this suit...it seems a little briefer, and very snug, the white stitching on the outside highlights his physique...not all the divers wear this style, usually they are in plain black with the Purdue logo, occasionally in the shades of pink breast cancer awareness suit that all the men and women divers and swimmers have. The black, white and gold brief with the large P, and the train engine emblazened on the suit, I have only seen on a few guys who were not on the swim/dive team.
|
On the subject of college swimming and diving, I've been Googling images for "College and university swim teams" and most of the pics have guys posing in speedo briefs, but very few jammers.
Keep up the campaign and maybe 100% of guys will be in speedos. :D |
Hvide Sande Livreddeklub
Forgive the Danish but this pair are keeping up the right tradition in their blue Turbo club suits (and with the cold North Sea to contend with one might expect wetsuits at least)

Two stupendous looking guys who are comfortable in normal swimsuits for sure.
|
"normal"
Yep - sure seem to be so (and good to see not just the teenagers who can wear suits like that)
Btw the Mission Viejo swimmer in Arena is still around on internet images I see - so any new thoughts on your post of 09-27-2013? (Cool Photos thread and #42) |
Purdue speedos
Ok, so I went to the gym to use to the pool at the aquatic center again this morning - and the swim team had sectioned off a few lanes, most of the lanes were occupied by the women's team - but the lane closest to me at the pool end, there were two males - nice bulges underwater, one in solid black the other in shades of pink (the breast cancer awareness suit) but then the two finished and hopped out...and one was definitely Lyam Dias - I've mentioned him before on here...he is quite identifiable by the tattoo on the back of his left leg - he had the pink suit on...and jumping catfish! What a bulge on him! I mean it is quite big and sticks out noticeably, no way to avoid it. Some guys have all the luck - young (he's 20), handsome, beautiful body and a huge cock and he looks terrific in a speedo! Damn. So he walks back and forth a few times with his black speedo buddy (not bad bulge but nowhere as big as Lyam)...so nice to see that, makes for an easier workout :-)...I hope Lyam makes it to the national team...of Canada since he is French Canadian.

Lyam Dias
(where mentioned before?)
http://www.purduesports.com/view.gal?id=146160 Age 21, born Ottawa, hometown L'Original Ontario. Trains at Purdue and Pointe-Claire Montreal and his speciality is breaststroke. Selected for Team Canada for the Pan American Swimming Championships - Australia, summer of 2014. Btw , do I hear second interviewee here introduced as Lyam Dias from Mexico? (youtube from 2011 - no left leg view) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij7Rh5MqT4A |
Speedo briefs never disappeared from US college teams - go to any college meet and you will see most guys (80% or more) racing in brief suits from October to January. Only at the end-of-season championships in February and March will guys switch to the jammers.
About the picture Byron shared of the Danish men in light blue Turbo suits - the water (North Sea?) looks cold, but those hot guys in tiny Turbo suits would have it boiling hot the second they hit the surf.... |
elusive....
A speedo pic for Lyam Dias is hard to find and no luck on pink for the Cancer Awareness Campaign so a couple of Budgys with blue trim will have to substitute (and one competitor is the winner of something):

Nate Cox Purdue diver
So today at the aquatic center, Nathan Cox of the diving team was practicing. I saw him briefly walking through the locker room as I was on my way into the pool - what a nice compact body, sweet ass, nice package in a tight black speedo. It was painfully obvious that Nate wears long trunks in his personal life - his upper legs/thighs were noticeably white compared to the rest of his body and kind of stood out against his speedo. But he looked nice just the same!

more speedos at Purdue
Purdue divers were practicing again this morning (I was there at 11), and a special treat - Olympic Champion David Boudia was practicing! Nice deep red speedo, higher cut in the waist/side than the black suits that the three other boys were wearing - Nate Cox was there again today too, the other two boys are not on Purdue's website - perhaps they are there practicing with coach Soldati (since he is Boudia's coach also) and are new recruits. Boudia's butt is really nice. Too bad he's very straight, married, and very Christian (like his coach). Nate Cox looked good as usual - too bad he's straight (w/ gf on his facebook page), such a nice package and butt. Boudia doesn't have the white upper legs/thighs as evidence he wears trunks like Cox does.
I shared a lane today for my laps. Student. In multi-shade of blue speedo with stars. Nice! Also chatted a little in locker room, thanking him for sharing a lane, small talk - about how he swam two laps to one of mine! It was easy to find out who he is - on facebook - based on what he told me (he's in Purdue's triathlon club). Hope to see him again. |
fan
......and how do you get an autograph at the poolside with inevitably wet bits of paper ?:)
|
Not to worry if a guy is STR8, since there are many STR8 guys (such as me) who are not afraid to admit they like "window shopping" for other sexy guys. :p

Purdue Speedos and others
So today I had the great fortune to be swimming in the lane adjacent to a nice looking guy I met at the pool last Friday when we shared a lane, and we had talked quite a bit last week and again today. He is swimming here at Purdue, because he lives here in town and because his girlfriend (damn) is getting her PhD here too, although he teaches undergraduate English at Ball State. He is handsome eye candy with a nice compact body, and he wears a black boxer cut. He told me to be brave and go buy jammers and how surprised I would be when I feel how much faster I will go as with my current trunks.
Anyway, when I got into the pool today walking in was a tall, slender nice looking guy I had seen throughout the year and a few times this summer. This taller guy wears a black brief, I would say 2 inch sides. He has a nice full, even pointy bulge. He was swimming two lanes over, and next to the English professor friend of mine. He usually alternates between freestyle and breaststroke, and a little faster than I am (English prof is very very good much faster!). I had a nice view for the better part of the hour of tall speedo guy. But after nearly an hour, I had done more than I usually do because I had such a nice eye candy to watch. English prof left before I did, and after getting out and showering, I was in the small locker room getting dressed when tall speedo guy walked in. So I got to see him strip down - and indeed he is...well...endowed. And circumcised. But completely oblivious to my presence (and furtive stare). He put on blue bikini underwear. We kind of walked out of the locker room and upstairs to the exit, but again did give me a notice. Too bad! The pool is closing for like 3 weeks for maintenance and cleaning and repairs...so the recreational pool only has like 3 short course lanes so I may be limiting my swimming, and may not be seeing English prof or speedo guy all that much till after the fall semester starts... |
So it's been an interesting summer at Purdue - in terms of the aquatic center and swimming laps. Pretty fair assortment of speedos throughout the summer. The main competition pool was closed for maintenance for a couple weeks so everyone got relegated to a recreational pool with only three lanes. Last week I actually got to share a lane with a boy on the Purdue swim team, nice looking and typical swimmers body, and...nice bulge. During this time I also met a member of the water polo team - it is they who wear the black suit with white and gold trim with the train engine wrapping around from behind. This was the suit I described several months ago that the young man in the swim class wore. So it was pretty easy to figure out who he is with social media and all (straight, with gf - damn).
So the pool opened up yesterday and I decided to go do some laps as it opened up. Again a decent assortment of briefs, boxer cuts, jammers and trunks. As I was leaving - also leaving the pool at the same time - was the boy in the swim class I described. He had on his water polo brief, he showered in it too (not to sound like a creeper for noticing)...but then in the locker area - again he did the towel dance. I am always amazed by this. Here is a handsome young man, great body, is used to wearing little briefs for swimming laps (apparently swam competitively all through hs) and plays water polo for Purdue in one too. Walks freely around the pool area - as he did all through that class during the spring. But hides behind a towel to change. Hmmm. Interesting. Anyway, glad the regular pool is open. Fall semester starts again tomorrow. I need to get into a routine as to when I go swimming during the week. Quote:

Interesting news....
Good to read your post - especially as I too have encountered that modesty-with-towel routine in the changing room, performed by a very competent swimmer with really neat swimbriefs.
The psychoanalysis of it fascinates me - but I will say no more as I am bound to see an immediate riposte from somewhere, accusing me of trying to be superior* and rule the world - or other assorted nonsense. * I will take a risk and ask did you know the loco. print represents the Ironworks? |
Yes, the infamous 'towel dance'. I swim at a pool that has hosted many top-level meets of high school and college swimmers - and the majority of them change under a towel in the locker room! Now, part of that may be because lots of male swimmers used to change on the pool deck - they'd wrap a towel around the waist, reach under it and pull down their swimsuit, pull on some boxers (usually) or briefs, then remove the towel and pull shorts or pants on. US Swimming banned deck changing maybe a year or two ago at big meets, though college teams may still allow it? So maybe the guys just got accustomed to doing the 'towel dance', but once you are inside a locker room, why not just strip down, dry off, and pull on your underwear and clothes? I am sure shyness is still a major factor. A few years ago, I was swimming at a college outdoor pool when I spied a guy from the college team swimming in a nearby lane - in his team Speedo! BUT, at the conclusion of his swim, he stopped at the end of his lane and grabbed something I hadn't noticed - some board shorts he had left on the deck! He pulled those on while still in the water, then, once properly covered, he hopped out of the pool! I was stunned - a varsity college swimmer who swims in a brief Speedo was embarrassed to be seen at his college outdoor pool in the same Speedo that has his school's name across the butt? Everyone would have seen the team logo and thought, "Oh, cool, he's on the college team here so he's wearing his team Speedo," but he was too shy to be seen in it except in the indoor competition pool???

Since I started swimming at the Y, I've noticed that guys who are in their 30's through 60's walk to and from the shower and then in the locker area naked just holding their towel. There isn't the towel dance that Swimmboy described among this age group. But younger guys are the ones who do the towel dance so maybe it's related to age and the incomplete development of self confidence among late adolescents and younger adults. Maybe the modesty of these guys is a reflection of their unsure sense of their body image, a big issue for all adolescents.
Specifically in the example given by Swimmboy, maybe that young man was out of his comfort zone. It's comfortable to be wearing his brief suit along with his teammates at the indoor pool during practices and meets, but at the outdoor pool by himself, he was no longer in his comfort zone. Just a hypothesis. |
I've Googled the phrase "College Swim Teams 2014" and there are a lot of recent photos of guys in speedos.
For example: :D http://thekenyonthrill.com/2014/03/2...made-buzzfeed/ |
I haven't seen the towel dance at the pool I swim at since I joined. There must have been a problem at one time because now there is a sign advising to change in locker area only.
|
Conversely, I find it really strange how some guys have worn board shorts to swim in, but then shower and walk around the changing room (men's of course) naked.
Would that mean if there was such a thing as a male only swimming session, they would wear briefs? |
Today got treated to a nice treat at the aquatic center at Purdue - the men's team had a self-imposed practice starting right after the pool opened to the public. They ended up using the lanes in the diving well though, however they were all coming out in ones and twos from the locker room into the pool area in their speedos. Most guys wore a standard black speedo (not the team speedo with the Purdue P on it), two wore the shades of pink breast cancer speedo and two others had multi colored suits on.
My gaydar went off several times, not because of the speedos...some of these guys...are definitely family..take a look at some of the handsomeness that pervades Boilermaker swimming and diving. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/...sterRoster.pdf |
Purdue guys
These Purdue guys would definitely look better in a full-body shot wearing their Speedos!:)
|
Lucky me again.
I thought the swim teams were out of town this weekend at meets, but apparently the men's team must have driven back last night from Minnesota. But I guess one of the guys decided to have a personal workout for some reason or another. Sunday's are normally relatively quiet in the aquatic center when it opens at 12:30, and today was no exception, but after two laps suddenly I had a neighbor in the adjacent lane - young man wearing a speedo 2" brief. Well it had the P for Purdue logo on it, and he was swimming super fast and obviously a serious competitive swimmer, amazing dolphin kicks, he was getting from one side to the other entirely underwater with his dolphin swimming. He had a real nice bulge (he adjusted himself a couple times), and when he got out to get a board and flippers, man...that was a nice sight! Anyhoo, I just asked him if he was on the team and he said yes and I wished him good luck and success etc etc. He was definitely on the team - with the logo on the suit, plus he went into the team lockerroom. I ended up walking out of the center with him too and made casual talk. It appears I was talking to Manuel Gutierrez...I didn't realize how short he was till we were both on our way out. Once outside he started running/jogging (he was wearing jogging shorts etc). Nice looking kid. Amazing swimmers build, and that bulge and backside....mmmmmmmmmm. |
Lucky me again today! More moments of Manuel Gutierrez in the pool and walking around on deck. Hot damn!
|
So very lucky again.
Men's swim team practice ran over when the pool opened to public today at 11...oh man, 25 or so handsome hunky guys all in their black speedos...I almost got dizzy! At one point they were all standing around at poolside...its amazing that the same exact speedo brief (i'm guessing its a 2-3 inch side) has such a different appearance and appears more full or skimpier depending on the body build of the young man, some on the team are truly lanky sinewy ectomorphs and some are more mesomorphs a little fuller brawny build. But all so nice. :-) |
Been awhile since I've posted...Purdue men having a very successful season...today - Lyam Dias walked by in a new suit I have not seen before - it was black and multicolored in a small square/diamond geometric pattern...very nice...but he definitely wins the prize for biggest bulge...he's rather packing it in down there! Oh man that was a nice thing to see this morning (he will likely make the Olympic team for Canada next year)...then later Steele Johnson, Purdue phenom diver and David Boudia (2012 Olympic champion in platform diving) were practicing...I guess they are getting ready for 2016 (they are synchro partners but I think Steele will surely make Team USA in single events too - he is that good!)..Steele also is quite...ah...full down there as he walked by (bigger than David's bulge)...glad swimming is my fitness routine and that I can do laps at a wonderful pool at a Big 10 university with a fine swimming and diving team!
