This reminds me of the RoseBowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena, Califiornia. Sure miss that pool. I just just down the street from it :(

As far as the question of diving and age; I would totally recommend you start diving. Practice, practice, practice. The Rosebowl pool had a huge masters practice team. I would say about 40 or so members that were in the age range of 22-55 years of age.
