You are lucky your little speedo didn't get the snip. Hospitals have a tendency to cut clothes off patients, it is so much quicker and easier than undressing an unconscious body.

When I woke in my room later I was in a hospital gown and the suit was gone. That evening a male nurse came by to see if I was ok and to tell me that my sexy speedo was in the night stand drawer. Somehow I think that he was a little too interested in my welfare -- surgical nurses don't usually visit patients after surgery in their rooms.

PSDave,

Glad you are all right after the emergency surgery and fortunate that you went to an ER that diagnosed quickly. An added bonus was that you didn't lose your Aussiebum. Heal well and quickly.

Glad to have you a member of the board. I think you will enjoy it. I look forward to your posts.

Thank You guys for your kind words I am happy to say the mending has gone very well. They did the new type of arthoscopic (SP) surgery were they only made 4 small incisions and then removed the gall bladder thru the navel. The upper chest incisions healed nicely, the navel is healing slower. Happily no ugly 6" scar across my gut.
The experience of arriving at a hospital almost naked was quite the experience. Talk about being the only one wearing a speedo!!! I think it helped that the nurse/orderly that seemed to be enamored by the suit was largely responsible. They may have gotten lost otherwise. When it was time to go home that was all I had to wear as I was wheeled out of the hospital. My new friend seemed to really enjoy it but to me it was like that childhood dream where you are in school in your underwear. Needless to say--i got the stares! The orderly/nurse was most attentive and gave me his number if I need help changing the dressing or emptying the drain bag. He even offered a massage. I did call him a couple times but really didn't feel like "personal nursing". I will call him now and see if the offer still holds for the "massage"
I now have a policy that I take shorts to the pool in case I am ever rushed off to emergency in the future!

PSDave,

I think that's the kind of dream we all have and now you have lived the dream, maybe something you really weren't eager to actually do. Important thing is that you are recovering and healing and you may have also found a friend with benefits in the process.

PSDave,

That experience was very much similar to the online fantasy stories I often read!
If I were you, I won't bring that shorts to the pool :D

Be well!

PSDave,

Glad you are healing well after the surgery hopefully in a couple of months you won't even see the incisions. It's amazing that not too long ago a person would have a big incision scar from that surgery and today only a tiny mark is left.

I'm visiting my sister and her family and friends to celebrate the Jewish New Year outside of Boston. Yesterday we went to their gym, a posh Boston Sports Club. I wore my Sporti water polo brief and was the only one in a brief suit there. I was a little surprised because I thought at a fancy gym, there would be more guys in speedos. It wasn't a great swim - the water temp was 86 degrees and the lanes were shorter so that 3 lengths was 50 yards or 1 lap. I managed to do 60 lengths (20 laps) but was really sweating by the end. On the up side, I did get my laps in and am enjoying our visit here.
