Would you run in your speedos?

To be with the first two would be a pleasure for me
(but in a comparison would be an embarrassment I fear)

If it's on a college campus, the speedo run around the atheltic field would be just great.
I just swim in speedos, but for running I just wear pre 90s style gym shorts. However here in San Francisco, I notice a lot of guys (about 50%) out running on the water front in marathon style short shorts. :p
BTW, I'm think about organizing a Speedofest by placing an ad on Craigslist.Com and telling guys that on a certain date (usually a Saturday) they should go swimming in speedos and running in marathon shorts. :D

I run in swim briefs at the beach all the time. Love the feel of being almost naked and the way the suit allows me to move freely. I do all my triahlons in briefs, but few triathletes still do. As for shorts, i only wear small inseam full side split. Yes they still make them.

I'm a pretty serious runner, and live in a very running friendly town. Wearing the right thing at the right time for the right reason can create a great run. A couple times each summer, that means a Speedo trail run in the local hills or bike paths.
Head off down the trail in nothing but a Speedo (no emergency coverup shorts). You meet up with someone, they will see and have opinions. My results are that if you are buff and confident, everyone checks to the power.
- If you set a higher athletic standard than they subscribe to, you get to determine what is cool to wear. Lardos don't get to vote.
- If you're the lardo due to lack of training consistency, don't wear the Speedo!
I've been both places and use Speedos as part my inspiration to stay fit: If my body doesn't deserve a Speedo or skintight Lycra I don't get to wear it.
(except to swim laps where applying that rule would mean less swimming and a downhill spiral. I honestly don't understand trying to swim laps in anything else no matter what you look like.)

It was my last day in France, I'd got back to Boulogne close to the ferry port and had been round the hypermarket to get some brief French underwear including a silky black thong. Stocked up with food I drove down to the beach and parked facing the sea and began to eat. It had been a good trip, I'd driven to Brittany and back, seen the Valley of No Return and the ancient stones of Carnac, I had swum both in a lake and in the ocean. I tasted the cheese, a little sausage, some fresh French bread and then a bit of salad, perhaps a litlle more cheese etc.
What better way to wait for a boat than to eat good food and watch the sun sink into the sea. Then the runner came past, dressed only in grey brown squarecuts that complimented his tan, he ran along the sea wall looking relaxed and confident as if he belonged there. He had appeared suddenly and it didn't take long for him to run out of sight but he had made the evening memorable and complete.

I totally agree.
I always run in a speedo if it's warm enough + have for years.
Most people are totally cool with it + treat you with respect if you are fit + confident enough.

Yeah, I still rock the old-skool triathlon kit too.
Feels way more comfortable + natural.
Looks cool too + shows people that yer a serious athlete.

Speedos for running are excellent -- though when I was a runner I always wore running shorts over the speedos. These were the pre-90s style, which today would be pretty skimpy. But the speedo underneath provided the right amount of support and let me feel comfortable too. Plus it's what got me into wearing speedos at the pool!

OK nice suit ... but running in goggles? Totally uncomfortable!

;) Well, the thread says running and not runners and a competition swimmer might well have to run in bare feet and with rubber cap on, as well as speedos and goggles, if he finds himself late at the starting block.
Then again Louis thinks he is already wet so maybe the outdoor pool water was cold and he needs a quick warm-up ?

Maybe a triathlete just out of the swim session and running to his bike.
(is there a number on his leg ?)
I run on the beach in a speedo then I can jump in the water for a swim if its warm enough. Sometimes I ride the bike around the beach area in a speedo.

Agree with Byron, triathlete on way to the bike leg... I am guilty of leaving the googles on until I get to my bike, as well. Regardless, this guy is pretty hot.

It is Tribord. They are a French brand. For a while they were sold in the USA by Decathlon Sports, a chain in the New England area (owned by a French company). Decathlon went out of business in the US, but it looks like Tribord is still around (link below). Not sure if they still make the briefs in the picture. When Decathlon went out, I bought a bunch of pairs of Tribord briefs. They are cut very narrow and low, just like the picture. They fit awesome. I think I have one or two still left.

Let us know if you find them.

Great piece of info. but sadly now seems to be available only for surfing, board suits, kayaking, sailing equipment etc.:(

Decathlon US may have gone but there is a Decathlon Sports Equipment UK and they sell suits called Nabaiji (and I have seen Ebay advertisements for Tribord Nabaiji speedos - all very confusing).

Thanks. Love the close up shots once you click on swimming... especially as they show how the drawstring is done. Not sure it is the same cut as the older Tribord, though.

:( Yes, that's the disappointing bit about Nabaiji

I think guys should train in proper kit -
not just stick on lame dork shorts coz of some random fashion trend......
I have tried triathlon shorts, but always go back to the speeds -
way more comfortable........
Keep rockin the speedo dudes!

I was along on a trail. Felt brave and horned up. Shed the shorts over my speedos and ran.
Did not encounter anyone, unfortunately. But I am going to do it again.
It is electric.

I don't run, but I ride my bike - in speedos. I think the feel is probably similar. The sun and air on your skin is great. And for me, the freedom of movement is awesome. Because speedos are cut away where your legs meet your torso, there is NO restriction or fabric sliding back and forth as the legs go up and down on the pedals.
I've done 52 bike rides of 12 - 15 miles so far this season. 48 were in speedos, 4 in rugby shorts! I plan to continue as long as the weather holds.

Used to bike occasionally in speedos and often in short running shorts. Got a lot of chafing on my thighs so I now wear bike shorts. Do bike shirtless in warm weather.

Back when there were Speedo stores, they sold Padded Triathlon Speedos, which had the same pad as bike shorts. I guess if you had the run and bike ride before the swim, you could save time by jumping right into the water. I bought a pair but never rode the streets in it.

At the SunSplash thongers weekend in Fort Lauderdale, the moderator, who frequently runs on the beach, issued an open invitation to run with him one day. I decided to go, on two very shaky assumptions. A. That I would not be the only one doing it, and B. That he would reduce the pace for people not having the same skill level as him. Both turned out to be incorrect, and I was quickly left in the dust. I did get kudos for making the attempt though

I’d be interested to find a padded biking speedo to pedal to beach trips. Seems like this and speedo swim thing have been lost. Maybe other brands ? Peace

Kiwami has a few padded briefs left, Nero color has three sizes left. https://www.kiwamitri.com/padded-mako-p/makop.htm
For my bikes to ride to the beach, I bought these padded bike seats instead and just wear a pair of denim short-shorts over a thong https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O0CZYG/

Unfortunately, i would not use a speedo for running.
It's not about modesty, it's about wearing tight fitting clothing while getting hot and sweaty. For running, i would wear cross country shorts. Stay tuned for more on this later. :D

Was anyone running in a thong?

Was anyone running in a thong?
We both were. I did it once, and once was enough. In subsequent years, I took a nice leisurely stroll instead, down to the Sebastian St. beach to sun, and then a leisurely stroll back to the resort, all in my thong.
