of course I like to keep my body in good shape simply because I like it and I love the way a fit body looks in speedos. but I don't even think this must be a RULE to wear speedos.
in other web pages i found stupid opinions from mostly women, that say speedos and alike only look good when the guy has a muscled body, or even other say you must be "hung" to wear them, etc
This is so stupid,. Why so many web pages post the do's and don't of waering speedos? Who gives a crap if somebody don't look like a "model"?

so, for many people, if I'm not hung or if I had not muscles, I can't wear the swimwear I like?! LOL, that's so

you don't have to have a model's body, but if there is the hint of the gut hanging over the waist band --- wear something else.
Speedos are a cliche for the gay male and the overweight 50 year old.

What should the former governor be wearing here?

Im not fit and I doubt I look too bad. I've seen attractive women who were chubbier than me in a bikini...

I have just got back from France, where 40% of guys on the beach are wearing square-cuts, 40% board-shorts, 10% short shorts and 10% Speedos.
In the camp-site swimming pool I went to where shorts are banned 80% were in square-cuts and 20% in Speedos. The camp-site shop were selling cheap square-cuts to those who hadn't brought their own.
A plump youth in square-cuts actually looks better than when wearing board-shorts. He may have a bit of belly but trying to hide his legs is not an improvement.
The middle aged guy in Speedos is accepted and ignored.

At camp-sites with their own pools or close to the beach it is OK for anyone of any age or figure to walk around all day in Speedos or square-cuts. Speedos or square-cuts with a tee shirt is also accepted camp dress.

On the beach it is the Speedo and square-cut wearers who are going into the sea and swimming out while the board-shorters are waddling frumpily in the shallows.

Many boys and young men arriving at the beach in board-shorts are actually stripping down to their boxers briefs (cotton underwear shaped like square-cuts) and swimming and sunbathing in them.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the sun shone nearly every day!

In conclusion, you don't need to be fit to wear speedos, but if you are you will get more 2nd glances.

The real thing was the Welch Regiment, built 1927 and cut up 1963:

Funnily enough this is on an old postcard on Ebay at the moment,
showing at £3.99 and the seller is in Kent (KenjiBoh territory)

In contrast, cold celebration of New Years Day 2012 at Dunkerque (northern France). By the look of it the speedo contribution here is by members of the local water polo club.

Byron; is that the beach just north of the industrial area of Calais, it is very quiet and beautiful there, wear whatever you like and you won't be disturbed?

Yes, I think so - the dunes go on for miles like that and I usually need a point of reference such as the Town Hall (which isn't in the pic and I think one would just keep going along there to Cap Gris Nez).
It has a great feeling of space - couldn't have a starker contrast to the claustrophobic Dover-Folkestone coastline I always feel.

Most interresting article indeed nand by a aussie paper to.
No 1 for France.

Yes, interesting results although I am not surprised at France*
If I was required to make an on the spot guess I would put Oz where is Italy and Germany where is Sweden in the top five.
Although 21 countries were involved the Poms aren't mentioned so I do not know how they voted (and the FlipFlop Report doesn't show on the Expedia website).
The only caveat I would make is that this Aussie travel company probably doesn't have a great Russian/Chinese/East European clientele and their views may have changed the distribution in the speedo league table.

*I hark back to the days when what the boys wore on the beaches was probably smaller that Brigitte Bardot's bikini bottom in St. Tropez.
A photographer called Ferrero of Nice was busy at the time, which would have been more than forty years ago, and his copyright logo will still crop up occasionally on pics in vintage websites.

I still dont get why so many choose to wear boardies. I just read a survey that stated how boardshorts are a hazard and males are more likely to drown when wearing them than not... Rare study and hard to find. If I can fish it out of my bookmarks Ill post it here.

What you refer to is vaguely familiar - I do not recall exactly who said it but check the RNLI to see any advice they may have published on open water safety.

Weak and non swimmers entering the water are more likely to get into difficulty and less likely to be wearing speedos or square cuts.
This might unbalance the safety aspect of wearing board shorts in the sea.
Also board shorts wearers may not have planned entering the water and are more more likely to have been drinking than speedo or square cut wearers who have planned to go to and into the water.

While more of a convience factor, out here in california there are many boardshorts that contain pockets. I go ocean kayaking and I lost a cellphone due to pockets in boardies. Speaking of kayacking, it is MUCH easier to board that thing after I've flipped it in a speedo. Never again will I wear shorts on my Kayack.

Interesting to read speedo designer Peter Travis interviewed here three years ago (has anyone yet seen the appearance of the modesty wrap?)

Fantastic look into the history of our beloved suits. Jantzen had been making brief swimsuits as early as the 1920's but the speedo was the winner as it wasnt made of wool.

"I will create a new fashion … I want to design a swimsuit you can swim in’.”

While wearing one (I wore my little black one with yellow sides today) makes me feel great, all in all the reason I love them the most is their practicality. They just make sense.

Am thinking of designing a speedo suit with a string. Pull the string and the suit inflates into board shorts..... yuk!

Having sex as you were posting lol?

What is not to love the speedo is excessively practical and abundantly sexy at the same time...

OMG - this sounds like sex on the ceiling - but if outdoors I guess it would be correct to say, quite literally, some new heights of speedo enjoyment.
