View Full Version : PREFERENCE: hi-cut legs or low-cut waist?

So... is your preference a speedo-type brief with hi-cut legs which gives a pouch-like jock look or a low-cut waist which gives a Japanese-like bikini?
Photos to illustrate your response are more than welcome :D

:D Has to be low-cut (how much space allowed for a feast of examples ?)

Definitely lowcut.
Suits that are designed with high cut legs are okay, though I prefer all suits to be worn low on the hips. What I really hate is when a guy pulls a 'standard' bikini suit up high  ....they just look ridiculous...such as:
http://www.bulging-speedos-galleries.com/SG2/images/speedo%20bulge%20130.jpg
I have a cousin (the guy who is responsible for my introduction and love of speedos) who sometimes does this and it drives me crazy. I keep telling him to pull them down a little.

definitely low, but not like the Japanese that look just plain too small. Being smashed into a too small suit isn't comfortable and look desperate - not sexy

Deciding on a high or low cut suit depends on you body type and which sports you do. As a tall slim young distance runner I had long lightly muscled legs and a skinny belly, a 1" side high cut swim bikini or a string suit looked hot on me. The shorter but more heavily muscled sprint swimmer types want to emphasise their abs and asses, and a low cut suit does this.
If you happen to be petite and very smooth then the Japanese style suits are for you if you dare.

I'm definitely a low on hips guy. I think that looks best on most other men too, though there are exceptions.

LOW FOR ME ALL THE WAY.
IN SOME CASES IT DEPENDS ONTHE SIDE SEAMS IN INCHES.
hERES A QUESTION FOR YOU, , TAKE FOR EXAMPLE IF TOM DALEY PULLED UP HIS SPEEDO OR ADIDAS SUITS TO A MAXIMUM WOULD HIS BODY LOOK AS GOOD AS IT DOES WHEN HE WEARS IS SUITS LOW (AS HE USUALLY DOES LIKE ALL DIVERS DO)

Due to my need for the "athletic supporter" effect, I need a suit with longer sides (8 or 9 inches), but I like a low waist. :D

Low on the waist/hips and narrower cut on the legs. Not pulled up so you get the swoop effect. As to Louis's question, Delay would still be really hot, but not as hot as how he wears his suits today. He may have one of the best ultimate attractive diver bodies, imo.

yeah, I think most guys look best in a low cut brief, but every so often you see a guy looking so incredible in a suit with high cut legs, that you don't even want to picture him in anything else...

Louis, swim team is an amazingly great time. Back in my time, all of the guys wore brief cuts, as opposed to Jammers, as Jammers weren't really around yet. Even now, most of the guys on my masters team wear the brief cut suits, only a few opt for jammers. Swimming and diving is one of the few sports where the guys wear way less clothing than the ladies. Being around all the guys was awesome, and yes it made things interesting. Even for the str8 guys, being around all the girls on the team and having almost nothing on made for some displays of sexual arousal, especially in the younger years. Even though we wore really small swimsuits, I am not sure who had the more revealing outfits, the swimmers or the wrestlers. At least we had the pool to jump into, but those singlets can be pretty revealing and there is not pool to cool off in...lol.

I just came across this thread and am bringing it into 2015. I have always loved the look of a speedo type suit since I began wearing them in my teen years, over 50 years ago. Since I started swimming seriously last June, with support and encouragement from some of the guys on this board, I worked up the courage to buy and wear very low cut suits (Turbos, Sportis, Nikes) and I like that look much better than high cut on the leg which I think looks a little dorky. So I unquestionably like the low cut look better.

It depends. I perfer hi cut but Low cut looks better on me. Too high does look feminine but if it sits on the top of the leg it does fine. It is when it goes above that that it looks funny.

I like both. When I was a gogo dancer during college, I mainly wore low cut waists, unless I knew I was going to have to do some acrobatic nonsense, then I'd wear high cut legs, as they would stay with me a bit better.

Definitely low-cut waist. When they are high-cut thighs, I think they look like the poor guy's got a wedgie or yanked his suit on way too far up. Case-in-point: David Hasselhoff, formerly considered a massive stud looking TERRIBLE (in my opinion) in his speedos here:

Ha ha ha. Is cool how all we have different points of view about the speedo.
I think the Low Cut speedo is cool , But I prefer a High-cut speedo with -1” side like David Hasselhoff speedo, ha ha ha!!! I think it is cool because only hide the genital area and the sides are in mostly naked, also slimming the male body and leaves the penis in a fixed position.
Low Cut is cool, but I don’t like show a bit of my “ass crack” and also only guys with a very good body look better with a low-cut (with a Hasselhoff brief you would look better when no necessary you have the perfect body).

I go with the majority and prefer low cut. Plenty of abdomen exposure below the navel, rather than attempting to pull the speedos right up to the belly button. Also at the rear, prefer the material just to cover my butt (if anything, giving just a hint of my crack at the top) rather than giving a wedgy. Thats why I love the Neptune Scepter.

I am like Phil on this one. My love of the Neptune Scepter is that their pouch cut is just right to give the package definition and comfort. You do need a slim body to use a low cut hip style. NS suits also have a drawstring which lets you snug it up for swimming. My suit has not slipped on turns, but without a drawstring, the damn thing would likely be around my knees.

Last summer I preferred more full cut speedos, with 3 inch sides and full seats, but this summer I think I'm starting to feel just a little more adventurous. I've gotten some that are very low cut, which I wouldn't have dreamed of doing last year when I made the switch to wearing speedos all the time. I even have a couple that show off a little more cheek as well, which is exciting. Looking forward to wearing these at the beach.

Sometimes the picture in the web page inspires you and you just have to have it. Well,, Asian sizing in Iswim cuts is too small for my fat butt. However, they are going to send me a large size as a consideration for my mistake. Probably just use this for sunning in privacy.

They look fine on you but do not move too much in case you burst out of the briefs! I suspect that you would end up with aching balls if you were to wear those for too long. I am sure they are fine for some sunbathing.
As I think I have mentioned before, I had to go two sizes larger for my Neptune Scepter briefs than I would purchase in Speedo or Arena. This seems to be the general rule for all Asian swimwear. However, they do make some really nice briefs and they are worth getting the right size. They look and feel good.

I think any suit looks great worn very low. Speedo, square cut, or even nylon running shorts look wonderful when worn just at the top of the shaft. I love as much exposed below the belly button as possible, especially when shaved smooth

Well, we are all different and we all have different opinions, taste, preferences, etc. I'm 36 and I prefer the high cut/high leg style of the 80s and 90s. I never liked the low cut style because to me it looks too feminine and anti-aesthetic. The high cut gives you a more masculine, clean-cut, and clean-fit look. What goes around comes around! See attached pics of very sexy and fit high-cut bikinis of the 1990s :D

I think you can go low and with a narrow one inch side cut for the slim guys. If you are doing a lot of weight lifting low, but perhaps a square cut style would be good looking.

I only ever wear low cut stye. Not like the Japanese that have no room for my package, but low like Desmiit or Neptune Sceptre. My pubes are trimmed and I wear ones that sit just atop my shaft, thereby exposing the bush. Must be trimmed therefore. I don't like butt crack showing though

I do prefer lower cut suits myself. But, I tend to agree that tight lycra blend briefs are not comfortable nor do they look very flattering -my opinion. I favor small briefs (but correctly sized) that have 2" sides -speedo endurance (European) or Caussie (Australian). I recently purchased a 2" nylon-lycra blend low cut suit and reconfirmed this is not for me. Classic Aussiebums are comfortable but I find them to be a bit too baggy in the front -quite the opposite of the lycra blends.
Regarding lycra, I grew up in the 70s and I believe it contributed to the eventual downfall of mens swim briefs. I personally think the blends look great on women (it probably contributed to the explosion in bikinis); but, not so much for men as the material does conform to every detail and is particularly pronounced with lighter colored suits. I personally don't find this offensive -guys are guys....but I am definitely more self conscious in a lycra suit. I prefer 100% nylon because it feels great -very comfortable.

Definitely low cut. It doesn't have to be as low as the Japanese style suits (although I do think those are hot...but you gotta have the body for it, which I don't).
I just go with the traditional speedo-type swim briefs.

I only ever wear low on hips designs. When guys pull their swimwear high, or the cut is really high, in my opinion they don't look nice at all. I like mine to go straight across my hips from just above the shaft, with the waistband either sitting on the pubic hair or at the top of my shaft. Not rude though. I like my V line showing as much as possible. I don't have a six pack, or a huge cock, but I do have a good V line. I lay my cock to the side, generally to the right; as it isnt as comfy to the left. I don't however like the Japanese suits, as they show too much of my butt crack. I like the waistband to sit just at the top of my butt crack, so that it only shows crack when I lean over or sit on the sand.
