I'm the middle of a serious spring get-in-shape campaign after a winter of relative sloth.

Of course some weight reduction is needed. I've found posting pictures of the younger, slimmer me on the refrigerator is extremely motivating to get me not to open that door, or if I do, to make the healthy choice.

I'll never get younger, but that's no reason not to look better. I'm extremely happy that as a kid I was an amateur photographer whose favorite subject was me in my Speedo.

That was shot summer when I was 19 or 20.
Wore same suit (or identical but newer, same size) 10 years later.

Lots more pics, but none that meet the 78kb file size limitation right now. Will do the work of file shrinking only if enough interest.

Lots of files lower than 200kb. Maybe Mike could give me a free pass?

louis:
It's a size 30 Speedo nylon. Orange was the color of my HS swimteam, so I've had a fondness for orange Speedos ever since.

Nice pic. The suit looks good on you. Size 30? Wow thats great. I realized today, that my 33 inch waist that I have had for 15 years and now close to 34. Not too happy about that as the extra inch seems to be abdomen fat and everything now fits a bit too snug for my liking.

Good luck getting back in shape!

Quite amazing what daily exercise, no dessert, and less alcohol does. And quickly, too!

I tend to hibernate during the winter. Even though the local rec center's indoor pool is the same temperature all year long, it just feels colder and less desirable in the winter, so gets fewer visits.

I applaud your efforts and the idea of using your own picture is a good one. I tried a pic of a guy in speedos once but it had opposite effect -- I went to see his pic too much. Now I use a really fat guy in a speedo to see what that fridge can do a body!

Now -- you are the amateur photographer that has been taking pics of yourself in speedos for years. When do we get to see an album of pics?

If I recall, Speedo didn't pattern match each suit, so the vertical lines didn't necessarily end up centered. I pawed through a few boxes (remember how Speedos used to come in boxes?) to find one that was perfect. Bet Mark Spitz didn't have to do that.

OK - maybe better photo quality but prefer yours there.

Don't remember boxes but always snap-top plastic bags I think.
Speedos now always on hangers - sometimes as wire ones
contoured for stretched display (not sure that's a good thing
however as they could remain so for months).

Printed more pictures yesterday to stick up on the door. Now I'm out of magnets!

:) ....and soon the need for a bigger fridge too ?

Btw did you ever graduate from two skis to one?
(never could quite get my balance right there -
it's the same on snow as skis vs snowboard)

I never learned how to get up on one ski. Once up, I could drop one successfully. When that pic was taken, we were coming back from lunch on the other end of the lake, so leaving a ski behind was not an option.

:D LOL - always possible to carry the spare and with one hand left for the pull bar?
Reminds me that in the early days of learning I was sure to keep the skis moving against the suction of soft sand when awaiting the tow in shallow water (several friends at the time were snatched skywards with nothing attached to the feet !)

As I suffer the after effects of the holidays, plus too much work and not enough laps, it's time to dust off my old refrigerator picture trick and this old thread.

There's never been a suit as cool as the old nylon Speedos!

Is that one of the original nylon suits or the lycra remake that came out in the 90's?
I almost cried when my original nylons finally wore out

I have 3 original nylon suits probably from the early 80s. The elastic around the legs is looser than it was new, and thus they don't fit as snug but they are in good condition otherwise.

Don't concern yourself , Speedos are a turn on no matter age or weight ,,,,
