The 1996 Atlanta Olympics was the last time all swimmers wore briefs. No jammers, no full body suits, just tiny down-sized Speedos and lots of skin.
Speedo had a bus stop poster displayed all over town featuring a U.S. swim team member (can't remember who it was) wearing the smallest suit imaginable as a legitimate athletic uniform. It rode super low in front, and although it showed a nice bulge, you couldn't tell where the swimmer had stuck his dick (perhaps due to air brushing or Photo Shop?).
I'd love to revisit that picture, but an extensive Google search hasn't turned up anything. Anybody else remember the picture, or even better, have a copy of it?

Did you try searching the Speedo Corporate websites? Or even the retail websites, they may have it for sale if the swimmer is known and with the Olympics coming, there is a chance they are selling anything nostalgic from previous Olympics.

Yes, not an easy one but must be out there somewhere.
Speedo Int. Customer Services have been helpful before
with archive material.
There are also collections at Powerhouse Sydney and a
big stock at allposters.uk
In the meantime the Michael Phelps of the Gay Games
(Cologne 2010) posted some pics of proper speedos here:

Damn nice picture.... all of them. Love the poolside shot, the two guys together is hot, too. I admire Phelps as a great swimmer, but this guy is far more handsome and the suit fit is nicer, too. Although Phelps is also a briefs guy in practices, and in some of his ads.

I rather liked that one as a piece of art (though rather obscure in the small pic) but, sad to say, have given up on lines of enquiry as all replies are "Sorry - we don't know it".

Byron, I continue to dream about finding this poster, but I'm not obsessing about it.

Do you remember what color suit the guy in the poster was wearing? I've looked through a bunch of 1996 Swimming World magazines I own but did not see any Speedo ads such as the poster you describe. They did have a nice shot of Gary Hall Jr. in a royal blue brief racing suit taken during the Olympics, but I don't think it was used in an advertising poster.

Sorry, can't remember the color. Just remember getting off a bus and going WOW

Here is the signed officiel Speedo photo of Gary Hall taken in 1996.

If his physique is typical of an Atlanta Olympics swimmer. Much less upper body development, much slimmer physique, finer overall build with smaller pecs and shoulder muscles.
The current group of swimmers appear to have spent more time in the weight room than in the pool, and they probably have, with massive pects and shoulders, like weightlifters, and genetically larger-framed guys.

Byron, I continue to dream about finding this poster, but I'm not obsessing about it.
I have the poster. Had it in my (now-closed) swim shop for years. It shows a full fontal image of Gary Hall, Jr. in his Olympic Aquablade speedo in royal/sapphire. Speedo logo on left; "USA" on right. Four 1996 Olympic medals hanging around his neck (Mark Spitz revisited), two gold and two silver.
The poster is double sided (identical images on both sides) and mounted on heavy poster board.
It's surprising that no references to this poster can be found online. It was (is) iconic of that Olympic year, but clearly Speedo used it as promotion alter the Olympics, not before.

Yep - I think SpeedoKid got into it with some detail
- and you had already said Royal Blue in post of 04-24-2012
(but I'm still a little concerned at fitting exactly what was
described for posters on the bus stands).

That is a HOT poster, but not the one I remember. With all the research being done to find the poster all coming up dry, I'm starting to doubt my own memory. But the quest continues.

Looks like maybe there was more than one taken at the same time. Mine doesn't have the flag. Otherwise identical.

That would explain a lot.
LapCounter would surely have remembered the Stars & Stripes
and I was not sure that Olympic Medals and an autograph could
appear as a bus stop poster DURING the Games.
The word Speedo does not appear either (but Speedo know
nothing of a poster of theirs at Atlanta anyway).
(The blogspot administrator might have some answers on its
origin of course).

Not to be crude, but in the picture Byron posted of Gary Hall Jr, it's obvious he has a dick and what direction he's pointed. The Speedo bus poster featured a suit half that size, with zero room for pubic hair, and no sign of where he parked his unit.
Again, it was probably airbrushed away.

Yep - you had said that so still not a complete target
hit as he was at three o'clock there I think.
*a sign we put on the office door of a boss many years
ago - he was never satisfied with matters put to him
for approval and would always say "not quite what we
wanted"
