Haha I was kind of surprised no one else had posted it yet! LOL! Regardless, it's a great story to see reported!

The entire article is premised on one data point: an increase in Speedo’s sales, and it’s written almost intentionally vaguely. Speedo has a much wider offering than just briefs, but the article never specifies *which* sales are up. Instead, the author attempts to draw an equivalency between the two, saying that Speedo invented the brief style.

Which is all to say, I unfortunately think the article conflated Speedo corporation’s total sales with swim brief popularity.

Could've fooled me. I've never seen anyone at my local pools in the UK wear one this year. I was on holiday in Greece last month and I only saw two other men wear them.
But if it's happening in the USA, I'm sure others will follow.

These articles appear online at least once every year and I have (reluctantly) come to regard them as click bait.
Male swim briefs are a love them or hate them thing so "speedos are back" stories generate a lot of interest and clicks.
As I have said previously the only sign I have seen of them coming back is seeing male participants in reality shows wearing them.
While these shows don't actually reflect reality it's still a sign the "gay men only' image is receding.

We don't get CNN in the UK.
If CNN have created this story from one data point how many other stories are they generating without sufficient evidence and how many well evidenced, significant stories are they missing because they don't fit with a corporate mission?
It is almost as if the author of this report were trying to present images of senior actors in their youth in brief swimwear to titillate the audience under cover of news.
