Yesterday (Australia Day) I put on a pair of Aussiebums and went with my wife to an inflatable waterpark in Melbourne. Despite it being busy, in the time slot before us (about 150 people, men women and children) I only noticed a couple of guys in square-cuts, and no speedos. In our time slot, there was me and a boy about 6yo I guess in speedos. I didn't take much notice of the time slot afterwards. My wife commented (before I mentioned it) about me being the only one in speedos, and said it was a shame. Her words were "what is Australia coming to, usually at a public pool or beach about 1 in 5 or or 1 in 10 guys are in speedos".
What made it odder was that there were quite a few ladies (some obviously mothers with their children) in minimalist bikini bottoms (I didn't see any that I would have called thongs, but some only missed out on being thongs by a few mm).
Sad that Australian dads seem to be becoming more ashamed of their bodies as time goes by.
