Someone commented that the development of speedos (in nylon and then Lycra) and all the other skimpy swimwear be it, various bikinis, thongs and g strings eliminated the need for naturism at a time when the choice was between swimming naked or wearing something big and baggy possibly knitted from wool.
I thought about this and decided that my own experience was the exact opposite. I'd worn square cuts for swimming at school and had hated them, the fake flies and fly button just seemed pretentious and as a tall skinny boy the legs on square cuts just seemed pointless. Once I had left school and bought my own car so that I could go swimming when and where I chose I bought my first Speedos; plain black nylon with 3" sides. I soon wanted something briefer and with more colour and was back in the sports shop buying 2" black Speedos with red and white flashes at the sides. I started to experiment with bikinis and even swim thongs, knowing what I could and could not wear in the public swimming pools and what I had to keep for a quiet visit to a beach. I began to realise that there is no magic point at which the human male body goes from being decent to indecent by showing a little more skin. It seemed the less you wore the more it emphasised your bulge so in the end you might as well go naked. I tried a local naturist beach and really enjoyed it, once everything had calmed down and I stopped feeling self conscious it felt so nice to be completely naked enjoying the sunshine and paddling in the sea.
So I guess there are two routes to the nude beach, one is evolution from briefer and briefer swimsuits and the other is revolution, the casting off of impossible long and baggy swimwear.

I always preferred brief swimsuits. Speedo solar was my favorite. Tried some tangas and thongs in my pool, but didn't like them. Now that I have a 6 ft. privacy fence, I only wear a swimsuit at home when we have company.

I guess although I've always loved any kind of lycra gear, not just speedos, at the beach I've always gone as minimal as possible. So I guess it was only a small step to going completely nude on a beach for the first time a few years back and I've loved the feeling of being completely naked in the open air ever since. Now I probably spend more time naked than I do in speedos - still love the lycra though!

I've always been a devotee of very skimpy bikini swimwear both for men and women and will wear the skimpiest bikinis i can get away with in a particular setting. However of recent years I've really enjoyed being naked, I suppose spurred on from a visit to an Austrian naked spa a few years ago and recently i a Japanese onsen. I generally walk about the house naked in the mornings after showering though cold weather can be a challenge!

I guess my first public nude experience, apart from male locker rooms and changing on public beaches, was about 8 years ago in a spa at a hotel in north Netherlands when I was in the area on business.
I'd heard that they allowed nude bathing and sauna so took advantage of this. At first I wore a very brief white bikini but soon peeled it off to swim and lie naked. At first the pool area wasn't that busy; a small mix of male and female some naked but later a number of young women from a fitness or yoga class arrived. A couple had very small bikinis and the others naked. In all a very relaxed, non judgemental experience.

I to walk around the house naked all the time after showers or getting up. Some times I'll use a C-String while doing choirs like vacuuming or dishes. Being nude all the time while cooking can be dangerous. Just joined up and have a collection of thongs, half thongs, really like the sheer ones that show off my dick when wet. Need to find out how to post a pic with my reply's if anyone can help or even exchange with me in PM's.

Ordered these in every colour apart from yellow:

Really comfortable to wear. And if you're out walking wearing them and spot a stream, just strip off down to them and wade in...

i wore my first traditional style speedo to the beach way back in the 1980's. I had to get up my nerve but immediately loved the sense of freedom and sensual nature of wearing minimal attire on the beach. Right away I wanted smaller and smaller suits. I was thrilled when a few years later (mid 1980's in Florida) even main stream department stores began selling men't thongs.
Recently purchased a Daniel Alexander slip bikini to wear when around the textile repressed crowd at the beach but my preference is micro-suits, thongs, and g-strings. I wish there were more beaches in the US and when traveling where men's thongs were common.
