Yes that period of time in 1980's Australia when wearing briefs was so cool.

YouTube has heaps of adverts from that period which show how fashionable briefs (in particular the Speedo brand) were amongst young men.

This 1982 advert for a flavoured milk drink is one of my favorites.

I love how its aimed at young men (the biggest consumers of such drinks) with the emphasis on the bikini girl but it wants the men watching the ad to imagine themselves as the guy in briefs.

Great find. Not a brand here in the UK, so have never heard of it, but shows in the good old days, you could show a guy in a speedo, without any irony or comedy. Great looking bikini girl as well.
