I thought the guys actually taking the thongs to the park was really fun and kudos to them for doing it.
The takeaway that society is more open to men doing this than women is clearly ridiculous though. The no-thongs rule is probably unenforced in general. I'm confused why this publication is trying to insist there is some sort of discrimination where women wearing brief swimwear has MORE negative connotations. Why?

Both male and females have butts. If I am freely allowed to wear thong swimwear to a waterpark, then so should my wife, sisters, sister-in-law, and my daughters enjoy doing so too. Australia is another continent than mine and so possibly they are quite sexist against women over there?

Maybe the real takeaway is that you can, regardless of stated rules, wear pretty much anything to ALOT of places if you just play it off confidentially and observe all normal social behaviors.

This was quite an interesting story, but I see no harm with a man wearing a thong style brief, just because it's too cheeky. Iv'e wore a semi thong under spandex tights a few times also at the doctors(female) for an annual physical exam. i was allowed to wear it for a while during my exam. They were made of very smooth, yet thick nylon and unfastened at the sides. My rear cheeks were much exposed and my erect penis was well encased in front. Both her and the nurse liked them on me, telling me how they wore similar bikini bottoms on the beaches in Southern Europe and there a lot of local men of various ages wearing cheeky swimsuits that looked like the one I was wearing. One of the nicer parts while being examined was when both sides of the tight fitting thong were unfastened with the front and back dangling, still clinging between the rear buns. It felt really nice too, even with my erect penis exposed and pointing outward while the doctor would examine my male lowers, then being stripped out from between my rear cheeks by the lovely nurse, as the doctor(female) finished checking my genitals and bare behind. I have to admit it was a rare happening and I felt good wearing a male thong, revealing it all without any embarrassment.

As an Australian I am familiar with the mamamia website. It is aimed at women in there 20's and 30's.
It likes to promote the now popular idea that women are victims of the patriarchy. I'm sure most of us have encountered similar articles complaining about the terrible double standard in athletics or beach volleyball where women have to wear skin tight briefs while men can wear baggy shorts. The reality is almost every fit women actually prefers briefs over shorts.
I agree with you strawberryboards that in reality they probably don't enforce it against women either. If the article were a true test of discrimination they should have sent a couple of women in the same cut swimwear on the same day to see if they were treated differently.

There is a water park in my city and I go once every summer.
I wear a black competition brief, it is snug but has a full back.
Like you recommend I just walk straight out of the change rooms with confidence and no one pays you any attention (although I'm sure many have a second glance behind my back).
I like how the authors friend was keen to wear a thong. I have long believed that a lot of men want to wear skimpy swimwear in the same way women do. They just need an excuse to break the fashion rules.
