Hey all. Going to be vacationing in Aruba later this year and have full intentions on wearing some of my speedos. I've actually done this twice before...but for some reason I always get anxiety about it until I see other guys wearing them.
Anyone been there recently and have any sightings to report? Seems there is a better ratio on Eagle beach vs. Palm beach.

I was there last year. Stayed at the Ritz Carlton. There were a handful of other guys there wearing speedos. I took a walk every morning around 8 for a mile or so down the beach and back. Nobody even batted an eye or looked twice at me. When I went snorkeling, we walked along the beach until we couldn't. Then had to walk along the street for a while, just in my speedo. Again, I don't think anyone cared!! Have fun. Its a great island!!

Thanks for the reassurance. You're right...no one probably cared, which is how I would expect it to me most of the time.
The funny thing is even if I'm the only one in speedos, if I'm not around a bunch of Americans, I don't seem to care. But the area around the Ritz never seemed to be super speedo friendly to me, so I kept my shorts on.
The ratio around Eagle beach seems to be more tilted towards the speedo crowd, and not necessarily the older folks. But it sure is nice when you're surrounded by a few like minded people. Lol.

I am so envious. I need a vacation so badly. Just a way to get away from work. Hope you have a blast. Post how it all goes, please.

I hope I have plenty to share.
I don't even try to be obscene when I wear speedos...in fact, I feel as though some of those very risqué styles are what make it harder to have regular swim briefs more "accepted".
The last time I wore speedos was on vacation to Vegas last spring. I wore a regular black Adidas suit, even sat on the edge of the pool in the wide open for a bit. Didn't walk around much because I was too intimidated. However, while I was relaxing and reading I noticed two latino or middle eastern guys about 6 chairs away from me were rocking black speedos too. Both had far better bodies than I do, and one appeared to be well equipped but not in an obscene way. Made me feel more confident with some "friends" nearby.

I am also going to Aruba this fall. I have full intentions of wearing my speedo every day I am there as much as possible. Do it!

Been there several times over the past 7 years, Eagle seems to be more speedo friendly compared to palm beach, but I just find any beach with Americans there are not very speedo friendly, and I'm Amercan from the US. My best speedo experience was in Antigua at Valley Church Beach, 3 cruise ships in port, two were Italian and our (Royal Caribbean) with mostly US passengers. I wore the speedo with pride as the ratio of speedos to board shorts or trunks was like 80% speedo to the others:D

I would absolutely agree that Eagle is more speedo friendly than Palm. I almost never see Americans in them but the funny thing is about 6 years ago when we went, there was a guy in a black speedo who was with his wife and they ended up near us on the beach at least two separate days. He had a nice bulge ...not obscene...just nice. We ended up on the same flight back home to the US.
One of these times I'll get the nerve up to wear my speedos on Palm Beach. Just seems not very speedo friendly in that area for some reason.

7 days until my trip. I just received two new speedos in the mail from eBay purchases. One is an arena suit with relatively narrow sides, and has a glossier almost water polo type fabric. The other is a grey/silver suit by Gary majdell. It's not as slick, but appears to be relatively flattering. We are doing the jolly pirates cruise but I don't think I'm bold enough to wear them on the ship. Never seems like a speedo crowd. I'll try to post how my speedo adventures go when I return in October!

Wear what you feel comfortable in around the crowd you are with.

I have 2 bikinis from Gary majdell, one white and one grey/silver. Not sure which style either one is, either countour or Greek bikini. the white fits fine, but the silver fits great, as you said... very flattering. I'm hung average at best, but after my wife pointed it out I can't help but notice how much bigger that bikini makes me look. In public or just us they silver Gary majdell is her pick. Since the suit isn't offensive, just flattering, my opinion is to wear it, there will be admirers and haters of both sexes, but it's your vacation!! Live it up!!

Just got back from Aruba...loved it. I wore a speedo every day and even had lunch at a beach side bar in only my speedo. Don't worry about the differences between Palm and Eagle beach, I saw plenty of speedos on Palm. Aruba is a happy carefree place and people are there to enjoy themselves. Wear what you want to wear as I did. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks guys. I'm getting a more "who cares" attitude about it all. We spent a lot of money on this vacation and won't have another for awhile. Since my suits are flattering and not obscene, I'm cool with wearing them on any beach. In fact. I'm not even going to pack any boardies. So I'll have no choice even if I chicken out.
That said, I've never felt odd with a speedo on Eagle beach. So my nervousness won't be tested there. Lol.
Leave in 3 days!!

My wife and I vacation each year in Aruba, usually in the late fall. We rent a condo across the street from Eagle beach, but spend most of our beach time up on Arashi and Malmok beaches -to snorkle. Even though speedos are not the norm, I'm certainly not alone and I have always felt very comfortable wearing them (mostly 2" Caussies) at the beaches and pools.

Hey guys. Tred posting pics, but they are all too big. I'm enjoying myself too much to bother to figure it out.
But, as far as a speedo update is concerned....I'm wearing them every day so far, haven't been alone, but even the vast majority of europeans seem to be into boardies or at least shorts now. Grr.
Either way, I don't care and have been developing a nice brief tan line.
Sharky...which condos on eagle? We stay at MVC. Are considering a condo possibly someday and renting it out in the future.

Get some photo editing software, reduce the pixcell size of the photos until the system accepts them, then save as.
Otherwise load them into the puzzle making software and load them as links to puzzles.

Hey, Torch. I have Photoshop Elements, which is problematic. I reduce the size for uploading then save the reduced-size version. It doesn't work.
If this site is tweaked to do the file shrinking of the original file as/once it is uploaded, many of us will be able to share our photos without hassle.

We stay next door from where you are... Oceania. We usually walk over and eat dinner at Tulip our first night. Have fun!

Hey Sharky. The Oceana looks very nice.
And always so quiet. Every time we are here I wonder if they've even rented a fourth of the rooms out. You obviously like it if you stay there always. Would you recommend it? We try to do Aruba as cheaply as we can since we don't really spend any time in the hotel...and MVC is good for that, but a kitchen and a quiet pool at night would be a nice upgrade. I could see me getting in a lot more speedo time. ;-)
By the way, water polo suits are awesome. I had my brazil one on yesterday and today it's a blue arena suit. Not a water polo per se, but the same fabric and feel.

Aruspeed-
Yes, it is VERY quiet. I believe most of the resident do not rent their units. So if you walk by at night I'd say 25% have the lights on, generally. (Many of the units are owned by Venezuelans who come for the weekend.) The property has three pools. One is about 30 meters long (I am guessing). So....it's really nice if you are a lap swimmer, which I am. We have stayed in both studio and one bedroom units. Both sizes are quite comfortable.
Are you sporting Turbos? Enjoy!
Aruspeed

That must be quite the money drain if you never rent your unit.
Yes, I wore turbos on one day. The fit is incredible. And so "tough". I like them because they make a nice bulge without being obscene. And I prefer trunks without front seams. Always make my junk look weird. I have aussiebums too, which I wore last week and I'll be wearing the nylon loose ones today. If I bone up in those though, I'll have to flip over. Lol.
By the way, went to jolly pirates yesterday and I wore speedos. No one cared. Seems the most speedo unfriendly place in aruba but no one said a word or joked. I was on a high. And I even saw several guys wearing then up there by the holiday inn. I was suprised.

It's been a few years since I was there, but I definitely LOVED Aruba and enjoyed wearing my speedo on the beach. Definitely kick back and enjoy yourself. Don't be self-conscious or worry what others think. Have fun!
