Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster (and I also lurk around speedoforum like a lot of us probably do).
Anyway, I'm 40 years old and have had a speedo fetish since as long as I can remember being sexually aware- 7th grade, probably.
I have dreamed for years and years about wearing speedos in public, without ever developing the courage to do so.
I don't know what, exactly, pushed me over the edge, but within the last week I bought a practice suit (I already owned a number of Solar suits) and started wearing it openly to swim at the local pool. My god, it's like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Nothing beats swimming in a speedo, and especially in front of a group of people. I've been getting such a rush from it all week.

Congrats! My first time in brief swimwear was in the fourth grade, though it wasn't exactly a coming out. Everyone in the swim class had to wear them. I got my first speedo of my own choice in college. I went through a shorts phase. I still thought guys in speedos were hot, but I gave into peer pressure to not say that aloud. First time I wore them again in public, it felt great. I never looked back. I mostly wear thongs on the beach now, but briefs at the pool. Still love the feeling every time

My very first speedo-related memory (of a sexual nature, that is) was probably in 7th or 8th grade. My dad ran very casually, but at some point had ordered something from the Road Runner catalog. I have a distinct memory of sitting on the couch in our den, flipping through the catalog, and coming across a triathlon-centered section, with a single page devoted to speedos. I even remember the brand- Hind swimsuits- and I remember my reaction- as soon as I saw those pictures I got a raging erection. I was aroused like I'd never been aroused before. I snuck the catalog upstairs and it became my go-to material for, um, private time. :)
So years go by, and I start to develop quite a collection of catalogs with pictures of men in speedos in them. I remember my biggest score was a TYR swim catalog that I rescued from the trash in the coach's office at the school gym. In those days, Tyr made a 1" bikini that was SO hot. I ended up owning many pairs of those later, but at the time, all I had to go on was the pictures.
So as I'm going through high school, I'm shy, chubby, awkward, and have ZERO clue how to talk to girls, but boy, did my collection of speedo pictures get me through that time (I had the requisite porn mags, too, but they have never really done it for me the same way as speedos).
I'm trying to think of the first time that I actually wore a speedo... I think it was when I went to my cousin's house. He swam competitively in high school, and was a couple of years older than me, and I remember a specific time where I was staying at my aunt and uncle's and he was out somewhere (he must have been a junior or senior and was out with friends) and I "went to bed early," which meant going to his room where the twin beds were. I rifled through his dresser and found his speedos, and probably tried several on and then took myself to conclusion.
Anyway, that's all I have time to write now... I'll add more later.
This is like going to therapy, ha ha. Thanks for reading.

When I turned 16 and started driving, I finally had some independence. The first suit I ever bought was a speedo brand brief. It was sold at a local chain of fashion department stores, and was sold among the regular swimsuits. I was so excited to finally have my own suit. I never wore it in public or anything- it was just for me to wear in private (as I said I was pretty chubby as a kid).
More suits followed over the next couple of years before I went to college, including an original Speedo Solar with the Mark Spitz-style red white and blue pattern (if anyone remembers the suits he wore to the Olympics). What I wouldn't give to have that suit now.
I also remember going to a big box athletic goods store and discovering that they had a Tyr 1" bikini, on discount. I snapped that thing up quickly and still, to this day, Tyr 1" bikinis are my favorite suit of all time. They had a great fabric, the sides were legitimately one inch, and they didn't have a front and back seam like solars do. They just seemed like they fit so much more smoothly.
By the time I graduated from high school, I probably had four or five suits, and I can remember getting ready to leave for college and having a "cleanse," where I threw away all kinds of things from my childhood (my parents were going to convert my bedroom to a guest room after I left). I had this huge trash bag of toys, books, etc. which were too well worn to be donated to charity, and I snuck a plastic bag with my suits into the trash, thinking, "I'm going to college. It's time to get serious about girls and give up on this speedo thing."
Little did I know how ridiculous that idea was, and how many suits I'd gather throughout college.

I totally agree! It's been doing wonders for me, finally typing out my stories and thoughts instead of keeping them only to myself. Joining this board has helped me understand myself a little better.
I'm looking forward to reading more!

When I got to college, I quickly realized how dumb my idea of trying to rid myself of speedos had been- I mean, I REALLY liked them (still do!). So some point during Freshman year, I went to a Speedo Authentic Fitness store (remember those?) and bought a suit. I can't remember if it was a standard 3" or one of the original solars, but it kept me fulfilled until Sophomore year.
Sophomore year, I got a mailbox off campus at a shipping store, got my own checking account, and boy, did I start collecting speedos. Free from the knowledge of my dorm roommates, I could subscribe to whatever swim catalogs I wanted, and I could order and have shipped to me whatever suits I had a fancy for. I think by the end of my junior year I had close to 30 suits, including at least a couple of my beloved Tyr 1" bikinis. I also vividly remember some kind of special Nike technical suit which was VERY slick and soft. Man, if I had any of those suits now I'd be so happy... but alas, they wouldn't have stood the test of time- it's 20 years later!

great story. I remember Hind suits. I was big into triathlons back when Hind was big and all the guys raced in their swimsuits. The trisuits had not come along yet. I still have a couple of Speedo triathlon race briefs with the Speedo name across the back. I loved racing in those, getting to run the course in nothing but my suit along with all the other hot guys doing the same.

I think my fondness for speedos came around age 11 or 12. I remember wearing regular old swim shorts during the 80's which were very short then and they had that built-in nylon liner. That liner caused an instant erection every time I put my suit on. Anyhow, so that started my love affair of stretchy nylon and spandex fabrics.
My first encounter ever with a speedo was around that same time when my mother took me to a department store. I remember seeing a speedo-like suit hanging from one of the racks. I instantly became all excited and knew it would be awesome to wear. Of course at that age, I would never have worn one in front of anyone, let alone ask my mother to buy it for me. So I did the unthinkable, I shoplifted it. My heart was beating so hard as I pretended to drop it on the floor and quickly shoved it down my pants. I thought I was going to die when I walked out of the store with my mother. It was some generic brand suit that was black with little colored stripes on the side and a white stripe that swooshed down the sides of the leg openings in the front. I still love the thought of that suit to this day. I remembered putting it on at home and the feeling was just so awesome. Even at that age, I had wanted to go outside wearing it but there was no way I could ever do that. Anyhow, that's all I can write for now, but there are plenty more speedo adventures that I have to say.

need4speedo, that's great. I know that feeling when at age 13 I put on my first one.

I also hit the marathon shopping area years back. Hind was great and they made some pretty thick shorts, Animal Short was the name I believe. Sorry to say they did not last. Th material just disintegrated and the waistbands lost their elasticity.
