This message is for "Dennis" from the chat room. I don't know what your username is on here, if you have one, so I'm leaving this message here If you aren't him, you can overlook this post if you want; it's more specific to his situation (I won't reveal any more information without him saying so, other than the fact that he is debating whether to wear briefs or jammers for a swim team).

Dennis,

Sorry tonight's chat didn't work out! Let's definitely try another time :)

If you're reasonably confident in yourself, I say go straight for the speedo! The jammer helps some of us transition to being more confident in our own skins before we put *almost* all of it on display. Plus, it is more modest and less revealing. But, wearing speedos also help build confidence I've also heard from many people online, my real-life friends as well, that jammers are seen as silly for swim team, and anyone wearing a jammer switched to a speedo in a week or two anyway.

That's sort of how I started, but that's getting ahead of myself in the Becoming an Enthusiast stories and I don't want to give too much away. But, PLEASE private message me and we can set up another time to chat! I'd love to offer you encouragement and support if possible. Plus, I'll happily share my personal experiences swimming in the different types of suits with you to give you some perspective. I've already talked about how much of a disaster my board shorts were in chapter 3 of Becoming an Enthusiast.

Side note: don't worry about getting a boner in your suit at practice or in the locker room. I can pretty much guarantee that it will happen to every single guy on the team at some point too, and they will understand and probably ignore it. (Teasing will probably occur, but it will be over with quickly. Unless your team is ridiculously modest and anti-speedo, which I doubt). I know I got one the first few times, and still do sometimes, but it goes away quickly. There are some things you can do to help keep it under control like jumping in the cold pool or wearing a swim jock (or other things I will explain when we talk again). I don't think jammers will do much to help conceal, though. I'd tell you more, but again, I'm getting ahead of myself in the Becoming an Enthusiast saga.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Cordially,
The Reserved Enthusiast (R.E.)
