Hi all,

I'm heading with friends to a family friendly club med. several in our group are bringing their kids, and is expect the place will be crawling with families. Is it weird to wear square cut speedo-style bathing suits? Should I just stick to safer bathing suits like regular short styles?

Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks

As far as I'm concerened, not at all. Why would there be an issue? If it was me I'd wear speedos though nothing too skimpy. Not knowing where this resort is, US or Europe, it's hard to know the culture and acceptability of brief or tight swimwear.

I don't see an issue with wearing a square cut or a traditional cut swim brief (2-3 inch sides). I have not been to CM, but have been to many other resorts and wore my swimsuits without any issues. Go have fun!

Any swim brief that you would ordinarily wear for lap swimming at a gym pool should be fine!

You can wear you speedos as underwear on the plane and save you square-cuts to wear on the plane back.
Take a short pair of swim shorts that you can use in the pool, on the beach or casually as day wear.
You are now equipped to adapt to whatever conditions you find at Club Med. Don't feel embarrassed about wearing decently cut sports swim wear around families, it won't hurt anyone.

There are always more kids than adults at my local pool, but that has no bearing whatsoever on what I wear.

Club Med is a French company. Speedos and close fitting swimwear on men is very common.

Thanks everyone. It's a club med in Mexico if that changes things.

In my opinion, a square cut is very conservative, and would not be any problem in a family friendly environment. In fact, on a cruise that I'm going on next month, I plan to bring a square cut suit as my more conservative option. I have a much briefer suit that I'll wear when in the more adult-focused areas of the ship.
