I've just ordered one of these:
http://www.kiniki.com/collections/mens-swim-briefs-1
450
I probably wouldn't wear it a public pool (there's no drawstring) but may do so for wild swimming or a hotel pool. It's only £7.95, so for that price I'm not too bothered.

Somebody's comments on Amazon:
'After several sessions in the pool I withdraw my comment about needing a drawstring. It works wonderfully without it and adding it would only make the suit bulkier needlessly and take away from the design.'
So could be fine.

Have bought a lot of Kiniki stuff over the years. Always great value.

I bought Kiniki Brazil Swim Brief White Swimwear in 2013.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007V1PZPQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
I wore them in France last year, even on the beach near the Jules Ferry Centre which is in the news at the moment.
Kiniki tend to be a little old fashioned with very high waists etc, but good value and fun.
It has a drawstring, which it needs when swimming in the sea.

Though the Andre swim brief looks quite low rise.
Anyway, I will be staying at a hotel in September which has a spa and sauna, so I will probably wear it then. Got to be appropriate for a sauna, as don't some of them allow full nudity?

I think that here in the states, most hotel saunas don't promote nudity. However, I think that many health clubs and fitness centers do allow nudity. At my Y, there isn't any specific policy so some guys wear a swimsuit, some wear a towel, and some wear nothing. It's personal preference and comfort level.
And by the way, I think the low rise of the Andre swim brief is really great looking.

Bede735, I looked at these suits on the site provided since you have some experience with them, question. I would order the small size probably and the model's pics seem to show a little bagginess in the lower but in some of the pics. Is this made worse if then get wet? His waist is a 28/29/30 depending on the cut of the suit. Thanks

i dont consider these all that revealing. so you shouldn't think twice about wearing them. I say go for it. Besides so much better when you get out of the water and dont have a big bulky swimsuit on.

There does seem to be quite a bit of leeway in what you can wear. For example:
http://www.hambletonleisure.co.uk/index.php/zest-swim2/swim-rules-guidance
◾Swimmers must wear appropriate swim wear e.g. no cut off jeans or thongs.
So no bare bottoms, plus no exposed genitalia and I would guess for women - no bare breasts.
What could a pool attendant say to you anyway? 'Sir, I must request you to leave the pool on account of your brief swimwear'. You could then reply, 'Will you be throwing out that girl in the bikini, then? Or do you seriously think my bare legs are more erotic than hers?'

Bede,
I like your sense of humor. How about this? Or the pool attendant could say, "Sir, I must ask you to leave because the bulge in your swim brief is turning me on and distracting me from my life guarding duties."...lol

Well, they arrived today and it was a struggle trying to simultaneously cover the butt and the front part. To put it in perspective, Speedo Endurance briefs are 25 cm high with a 4.8 cm inseam. These are 18 cm high with a 2.5 cm inseam. A lot skimpier that I had imagined, so I definitely wouldn't wear them at my local pool.
Actually, I'm not sure if I want to wear them at all. They're a large size, 35-37 inch waist, so with me being a 36 inch waist, they should fit right - but they're so tight I felt like the circulation to my balls was being cut off! Just not the kind of gear you'd want to spend much time wearing.
Think I'll stick to the Hom briefs - nice and brief but very comfortable.

It's too bad that they are such a poor fit. Can you return them? Although at the price you paid, maybe keeping them for when you want to go crazy in private might not be such a bad idea...lol

Possibly, though if I got a larger size they'd probably slip off. Probably not worth it.
