Documentary on TV about early Soviet cosmonauts, thought I'd share a couple of screen shots from their training in 1957.
After their run they did actually go swimming.

The Russians did not know what the effects of space travel would be on the human body, therefore they trained their cosmonauts for extreme conditions, including running and swimming (in brief swimwear).
