I want to say this swimsuit this hottie is wearing is TYR, however the sides are too small for that brand.
The almost resemble 1.5 inches or possibly less; not typical of your average swimmers suit.

Where DO you get them ? - this needs some serious investigation
(is there some braid and/or tanline at the seams of this suit?)

I vote Arena Swim...

I tried to blow up the image and figure out what the symbol represents but I could not tell.
It's a nice suit!

Same here Joe - all roads point to Arena but not quite satisfactory for a conclusion.
I have found that pic. elsewhere and it is captioned Stanford Swimmer.
That makes it even more confusing as Stanford carry "S" and their color is red, not black (yet the guy is adjacent a Stanford starting block at the pool so could be a visiting competitor perhaps).

What do you guys think the sides measure out to be? 1.5 inches??

Yes - my estimate too

02-23-2014, 12:49 AM

Suspect that Byron suggested it was not an official team/club competition suit, not that the suit was not suitable for competition.

How do you go with this theory?
A Stanford swimmer perhaps but wearing his own and not the Uni. club swim
brief here as it is only a team practise session at the pool.
The guy behind also wearing black is certainly not in racing speedos but a drag suit is likely and so quite appropriate to see for some resistance training ?

Makes logical sense.
Where the heck did this handsome swimmer find this beautiful suit?
I even emailed Arena with the pic attached, heard nothing back.

That does look like a nice suit, however it just seems that it covers too much of the butt.
I think this suit would be a lot more sexier and attractive had it been more of a cut in the back.
The original pic I had posted for this thread has snorters sides and probably shows a little more skin in the back :)

As far as recognition for the original pic.
I received an answer back from ArenaUSA
It is as follows:
" Hi Joe,
We believe this might be one of our older solid Briefs. We no longer have this logo application.
We do carry a similar style called the Skys Brief for Men.
Please see below link:

Hope this is helpful.

OK - looks as if that's as far as we will get - and no reply from Stanford about my theory of their team training session taking place there
(LOL - I had better not tell the coach that his guys have too much butt coverage in their Nikes)

whatever brand that is, it fits him great. I guess the key to looking good in a 1.5 inch suit is to try on several brands until you get the one that fits you best.

This time two swimmers in blue speedos (and one clearly Arena):

Thank you. Do it by numbers Joe - that will avoid too many words.
I am answering here your post#29 ie:
You started with #1 - swimmer in black speedo - soon identified by Knikon as most likely an Arena.
You later presented a team in gray speedos (#21) and I identified their suits as AgonSwim (my#22)
Louis has been checking out my #22 and agrees (as he says in his #27)
PS: re. my #24 I have searched without luck for the antelope on the bum of a GCU team suit

Another Stanford location (beginning to think I live there and that they need a thread of their own).
Black speedos again but to complete the picture this time some WP guys rather than swimmers:

I have picked up three GCU guys here in their AgonSwim suits - but still no butt pics for the 'lopes. From their size I would say these are likely to be divers rather than swimmers but not sure:

Most likely it is Tom Jager - seven Olympic medals and gold at Seoul 1988.
Coaching now at Washington
(I would guess 2 rather than 1.5 for his swim brief)
Bede735
04-25-2014, 09:34 PM
It is. I did a comparison with the Aussiebum 1.5 Classic and it looks about the same. The tan lines show he's used to wearing less brief suits.
afewgoodmen
04-25-2014, 10:19 PM
great pics.
I would have to say that the suit is more of 2" rather than 1.5".
Although the "cut" that follows thru to the buttocks can make a BIG difference. If the cut follows thru to where it takes away fabric from the buttocks, then even a 2 inch suit will look more like 1.5 inch; the flip to that can have the opposite effect.

This is indeed Tom Jager - US Olympian in 88 and 92. I'm positive the suit he is wearing is one of the dearly missed 'paper suits' from the late 80s-mid 90s era. They were made by Speedo, The Finals, and a few other makers. I still own a 30" navy blue Speedo paper suit, and having just measured the side seam, can confirm it is virtually a 1.5" suit (1 and 5/8 inches to be more precise). You also notice the hint of a white tag along the waist above Jager's left buttock, which is the exact same position where the Speedo tag is located in my suit. The paper-thin fabric left nothing to the imagination, and swimmers tended to downsize even these tiny suits, giving the suits an even briefer, skimpier appearance. The most wonderful swimsuits ever invented, in my humble opinion...

I suspect the white logo we can not quite see on the front of Jager's suit says "USA" or something similar. Speedos sold here in the US have always (as far as I can remember) had the Speedo boomerang logo on the front of the suit on the swimmer's right side/right hip, so any team logos were on the swimmer's left hip side.

Just out of curiosity, how and where do you find all these photos? You're like a research librarian in your ability to locate and identify specific suits or logos or lettering. You must spend lots of time searching.

(*do you remember that lovely old monochrome publication, now long out of print?)
Do you want the long answer or the short answer? - OK , the long one:
I can only post what is on the Internet and cannot go too far to the point of creating a new GoogleImages. They and tumblr are useful sources however
and I have to think "do I find this slightly out of the run-of-the-mill for some reason?" If so might others agree? (bearing in mind forum readers may have already seen weeks ago what I want to post and be well aware of its detail).
Then, "does this relate to a post I have seen on the forum and gives added information and/or the solution to a question?"
The problem now is memory capacity as so many posts stack up on the forum
which inevitably grows over almost three years (eg I have picked up on some recent Jakeds which seem to pop up everywhere - but if they feel familiar am I about to post an unnecessary repeat, either from myself or what has appeared previously in another thread ?)
The time-consuming bit is looking at comments on interesting pics and comments are often by bloggers who by turn carry comments on their blogs. To avoid frazzling of the brain it can then be time to stop and pick up again another day when refreshed - but often a little gem will be buried in one of those somewhere.
LOL - I can only think I have the genes of Conan Doyle's fictional detective - anyone on the board called Watson so that I can post "elementary"?
(but if Fifty Free is worried, it's not obsessional)

Just five of the team of post#23 this time (you see their gray suits have the AgonSwim but not the GCU - and we have seen both in other pics):
http://33.media.tumblr.com/e4e65c88fef1dcafe0b92f280b584810/tumblr_n2ef9hgJOc1r0g3zto1_500.jpg
NB: Could be another explanation of course - the 'lopes of GCU choose gray Agonswim for their team and print the front accordingly - but ANOTHER team simply chooses to adopt the plain gray suit as produced by Agonswim and will not of course add GCU

Much appreciated.

Re. post#59 GCU Head Swimming Coach explains:
It is left to team captains to choose a suit design each year for meets and practise.
Therefore changes will be seen and this year the meet suit is charcoal or black, with 'lopes on it. The practise suit is a purple camouflage print.
(he doesn't mention the retention or omission of "GCU" this time)

To bikiniman and singletlover et al:
I bet Joe* does not know what he started in post#21 with the rather unusual gray swim team suits being so desirable - but Louis is trying to resolve the problem with AgonSwim Custommade Dept. as to what shades of fabric color we are apparently seeing - and the different drawstrings and the printed emblems.
* where is he these days?
NB: be patient with the thread - after post#21 we go in and out of the search for gray speedos and it becomes confusing (as afewgoodmen found)
PS: latest lopes' suit designs are already in a drawing - page 2 of the link in post#28
